Have not posted very often, in part due to being so busy, good busy. From some sponsoring and watching one of our family members continue to be successful in his boxing path, to awarding those three ladies the “Boy Memorial” scholarship and as always, continuing to provide services in the community.

Three students were awarded the Vicente “BOY” Granados memorial scholarship this year. My brother, is best remembered for his smile and loving nature. This scholarship is awarded to a senior who has impacted their school and community in a similar way. Recipients exhibit caring, acceptance, and encouraging to others, and demonstrate some efforts in working towards battling the stigma surrounding mental health.

In honor of my lovely brother, my counseling practice is named after him (Vicente Granados-VG); VG Sunflower Counseling. The Sunflower 🌻 is a godwink for us of one of the many ways we remember him.
Graduating seniors, in whatever you pursue to be (career-wise), remember the basics and just BE KIND, and especially BE KIND TO THYSELF.

The minneola community has asked that we present on a topic we often shy away from. Let’s gather and together we can learn how to recognize the warning signs and provide support to those in need.
During this presentation, we'll cover:
• Understanding the signs of suicidal ideation
• Strategies for offering support to friends and peers
• Mental health resources and hotlines
• Coping mechanisms for managing stress and emotional challenges

This event is open to all Jr High and High school students, faculty, staff members and adults within the community.

Let's work together to create a community where everyone feels supported and valued.

As is my tradition to do when I do a presentation, I have a few shirts, and other small items as giveaways, but most importantly to gather and have a discussion of support.

ANOTHER DAY, ANOTHER SUN… KEEP GOING, YOU’RE NOT DONE!

In effort to continuing being a voice, my siblings will co-present that evening with me.

Join us this Wednesday at the high school for this special and important event.

Thankful for my clients who are always very understanding when I narrow my hours to allow me coaching cross country and track&field. Thank you for the community in seeking out therapy services, and my office as a resource.
Trying to make the office space comfortable to allow a tranquility in processing. (No, the music isn’t playing when in session, but if you find it as a benefit while in session, I’m sure I can play it).

Being able to talk about a career in the mental health field, continues to be a blessing. In continued honor and in memory of my brother; I share items from my private practice, to remind us that there’s “ANOTHER DAY, ANOTHER SUN… KEEP GOING, YOU’RE NOT DONE!”. Mental health matters!!! 🌻 🌻

With the holidays upon us, may those who will continue to grieve, be allowed to do so. Grief is not a “one fits all” process.. It’s a very individualistic process. Just as we all have our own unique finger prints, we all have our own unique way of grieving. Here’s an article of some general suggestion.

Your Holiday Grief Plan is here. How to cope with grief during the holidays. You already know how, you just need a gentle reminder.

"Despite what life has taken from us, and things get better when we brave them, for the spirit of what we have lost is always with us, to fill us with purpose to be more." My beautiful brother, who left us 7yrs ago today. In his memory I find a purpose to be more. Be kind to others, and especially to YOURSELF!

Another day, another sun, keep going, you’re not done!

Today is a historical day for su***de prevention and mental health in the U.S.! The National Su***de Prevention Lifeline, now known as the 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline, can be more easily reached by calling or texting 988, or chatting on 988lifeline.org.

988 serves as a universal entry point so that no matter where you live in the U.S., you can easily access 24/7 emotional support. You do not have to be suicidal to reach out. Our trained crisis counselors can help you through whatever mental health challenges you are experiencing.

We're so grateful to SAMHSA, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the Federal Communications Commission, and our other su***de prevention and mental health partners in the field for working together to get us here, and we look forward to growing and expanding our services and supports in the years to come.
