Dr. Alejandro Badia, hand and upper limb surgeon, is the creator and founder of Badia Hand to Shoulder Center in the heart of Doral, Florida. This state of the art facility is housed on the ground floor of the Doral Pavilion Center near 3 major highways. Patients from abroad will find our close proximity to Miami International Airport and relationships with local hotels allow for the facilitation of quality and stress free care. Our patients have access to digital radiographs, MRI imaging, physical and occupational therapy along with an advanced outpatient surgical center. All problems pertaining to the hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder may be handled under one roof. Consultations may be scheduled via phone or internet by utilizing www.drbadia.com, which emphasizes patient and physician education alike. Dr. Badia was educated at Cornell University for undergraduate studies and graduated from New York University, where he later trained in orthopedic surgery while chief resident at Bellevue Hospital, in New York City. His hand surgery fellowships were in Pittsburg and Europe and he co-founded the Miami Hand Center. Dr. Badia is currently the President of ISSPORTH and is a member of ASSHA, AAHS , AAOS and an honorary member of multiple international hand societies. Dr. Badia also works closely with members of the International Orthopedic Group in order to appropriately refer ANY musculoskeletal problem to the appropriate colleague. We had an awesome outcome with a top teen tennis player who had ongoing shoulder pain. The MRI , done in our office, showed no significant tears, just cuff tendonitis and bursitis. Weeks after single growth factor injection and some focused shoulder rehab, she’s back in action, full swing! It really is all about finding the right specialist at the right moment.

Honored to present the keynote at summer symposium of ABLE, the Association of Bioskills Laboratory Excellence at renowned .institute in Miami, one of the world’s largest labs. Pat Cichlar, long time director of .events , the main teaching lab of , American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons introduced me and we discussed my first lab there over 30 years ago!

Busy day in ! Double digit surgery schedule with visiting fellows from Pakistan , India and… South Carolina. Learning specific surgical techniques is valuable but perhaps more impactful is how a one stop outpatient center operates - under one roof.

Another amazing upper limb course focused on fixing pre-fractured specimens that are sent from Germany how does anybody get better at what they do whether their worker play? For perhaps obvious reasons, I resisted against watching , as I watch TV and pleasure read to escape. However, many colleagues told me how compelling and realistic it was and I cannot agree more. Ironically, it takes place at Alleghany General Hospital in Pittsburgh, where I did my Hand & Upper Extremity Surgery training, but reminded me much more of my decade at in . I laughed, cried, and reminisced, but moreover hoped that the public better understands the hardships, stress, but also rewards of being a physician, particularly the road to get there.- confident, skilled but empathetic. While I particularly enjoyed some of the upper extremity trauma that was portrayed in the show, I think many of you would enjoy chapter 3 of my Book. where I recount some stories of my Bellevue days while at
