October is National Women’s Small Business month, an annual observance that aims to raise awareness and support for women-owned businesses. means investing in women’s economic empowerment, gender equality in business, and sustainable economic growth - that’s what MAPA is all about!! To celebrate this important observance, we’re raising our voices and using our platform to highlight awesome women-owned businesses and the inspiring women behind them!
Today Carolyn Schatzel is in the spotlight! She is the founder and owner of Mindful Bodies Massage. Carolyn is a Licensed Massage Therapist and Reiki Healer with more than 1100 hours of education and training! She has trained in numerous modalities and holds a deep understanding of the human condition, anatomy, and physiology.
Carolyn was born and raised in MA. From a very young age, she had a deep passion and curiosity for the arts, sciences, and spirituality. An avid dancer, sculptor, and painter, Carolyn completed a BFA before relocating to Southern CA. There, she was able to integrate her intuitive and creative tendencies, developed through her art education, with her fascination with the powerful human ability to heal the mind, body, and soul, and find meaning in life. Carolyn trained with chiropractors, osteopaths, physical therapists, personal trainers, experts in Traditional Chinese medicine, and energy healers, and is now earning a master’s degree in holistic mental health counseling. She currently lives in Dorchester and is balancing being a mother to 11-year-old twins with running her private bodywork practice. Carolyn also dedicates her time practicing and promoting whole-body health and wellness via an active lifestyle, an integrated approach to self-care, plant-based eating, and expanding her knowledge through research and continued education.
When asked about the importance of supporting women-owned businesses and how she inspires women and girls in her community, Carolyn shared:
“I believe that women are the world’s true visionaries and nurturers. Whatever endeavors women take on, they approach them with industriousness, intuition, creativity, commitment, and an openness to learn and grow. Witnessing this is inspirational. Supporting women in their business ventures helps to create a world where this beautiful feminine energy can be utilized, encouraged, and inspire our communities. I aim to inspire the women and girls in my community by always striving to make meaningful connections with others, share my personal story of healing, and empowering people to know they have the innate ability to heal and feel whole in their mind, body, and soul.”
Carolyn, we’re deeply inspired by your commitment to helping women and girls find healing, wholeness, and inspiration through your work! MAPA’s President & CEO, Drita Protopapa, met Carolyn a few months ago and quickly understood Carolyn’s ability to help and heal others, especially women! So much so, that she became a client of hers! Kudos for your incredible ability to understand and work with the human body and spirit!
