Congratulations Halie on being chosen as the Caregiver Spotlight!
Well Halie, tell us all about you! Halie smiled and said “I am 19 years old, and am going to school at NTC for Veterinary Science! I simply love animals and am super-excited to be able to help them!” Halie also added “I love spending time with my family, doesn’t matter what we are doing, I just love spending time with them! I also love, love, love animals! Dogs, cats, rabbits, horses, well, really any animal!”
We can tell you enjoy taking care of others Halie, that’s for sure! The animals you are going to care for are going to be very lucky to have such a kind person helping them!
Halie, how long have you worked here at The Homeplace of Dorchester? “Hmmm, well I guess it has been just over 7 months! Funny, I love this job so much I feel like I have been here forever! They are all just like family to me!” We sure can see that Halie, you are always ready to jump in and help people, your co-workers say you are one of the kindest people they know!
We asked Halie if she could share, why she chose to work at The Homeplace? Halie said “I love helping others, making a difference in someone’s day! When they smile, I smile it is really just the best feeling ever!” We asked Halie what background she had in healthcare, she said “I took the Medical Academy in high school because my mom is a nurse and I have been with her for home care jobs. I really enjoy the connection you can make with people that just need a little bit of help! Funny thing, you know, they are happy because they have someone to help them, and I am happy because I get to help someone! I guess I learned it from my mom!”
Halie, what qualities do you think you bring to your team? Halie said “well, I am compassionate about helping others, I practice patience because some people need time, and I am responsible” Those are all true qualities Halie, though your team mates and Director would add, dependable, kind, energetic and detailed!
We asked Halie, what advice would she give to someone looking to apply to The Homeplace, she said “Make sure you always show and speak with compassion. Be understanding of others, they may need more time or more guidance. Finally, never be afraid to communicate!”
Those are excellent words of advice! Thank you, Halie for your dedication, compassion and kindness you truly make a difference every single day!
