For 50 years, the Geiger Gibson Community Health Center (GGCHC) has provided medical, dental and behavioral health services to residents in Dorchester and the surrounding areas. Harbor Health Services, Inc. is pleased to be co-hosting a very special event with the Massachusetts League of Community Health Centers honoring the 60th Anniversary of community health centers 🎉!! The Columbia Point Health Center (now known as Geiger Gibson Community Health Center) became the first operating community health center in the US when Drs. Jack Geiger and Count Gibson opened it in 1965. Today MORE THAN 1 MILLION PEOPLE IN MASSACHUSETTS and OVER 30 MILLION NATIONWIDE rely on community health centers for primary care and other health services.

EVENT DETAILS: December 11, 5 PM – 8 PM, at the Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the US Senate in . The event will feature panel discussions with community health leaders and photo journalists and an award ceremony.

With so many of our neighbors looking for help with food, the Food Pantry at Harbor Health is once again working hard to fill 300 Thanksgiving grocery bags with a variety of dry goods, canned goods, and other items for holiday meals. The bags will go to individuals and families in need in , , , , and surrounding communities. YOU CAN HELP!! FLU SEASON is almost here!! Geiger Gibson Community Health Center at 250 Mt Vernon Street in is hosting a community flu shot clinic on Thursday, October 16, 2 pm - 4 pm. Shots are available for all ages including kids age 6 months and up. ALL ARE WELCOME!! You do not have to be a patient at Geiger Gibson to get a flu shot during our community clinic. IMPORTANT REMINDER: Our pharmacy is open to YOU!! You do not have to be a patient at the health center to get your prescriptions filled at our pharmacy. Some people call this kind of appointment a “telehealth visit” or “virtual care.” If you are not able to come in for an in-person appointment, please call the health center to ask about switching to a telehealth visit.

We were so excited to welcome members of our community to our Start Healthy Saturday community health fair at Geiger Gibson Community Health Center in a couple weeks ago!! 🎉Thanks to the American Red Cross of Massachusetts Boston Food Pantry, we distributed grocery bags full of nutritious food, while members of our medical care team at Geiger Gibson and Daniel Driscoll-Neponset Health Center offered free blood pressure checks. With music and community resources from Boston Public Health Commission, Dorchester South/South Boston WIC Program, Hanscom Federal Credit Union, the Lung Cancer Screening Initiative, MassHealth, Neighborhood Food Action Coalition, and Harbor Health PACE, it was a healthy and fun community event!

Important Service Update In Response to COVID-19

We have made updates to our services at the health center due to COVID-19. We are still here to offer care and support for our patients!

Our medical and behavioral health team is offering appointments by video and over the phone. In-person appointments will take place at our fellow Harbor Health community health center, Daniel Driscoll - Neponset Health Center, 398 Neponset Avenue, Dorchester.

Our pharmacy is OPEN! You can pick up curbside or we can mail your prescriptions.

Dental services are now OPEN! Please call (617) 288-1140 to make an appointment or with urgent and emergency dental issues.
