May 5th is World Hand Hygiene Day! Here’s an activity you can do with your kiddos to spread the word (not germs)! 🦠 ✋🏼

🧪 What you’ll need:
-Glitter (any color)
-Hand soap + water

👣 Step-by-step:
1️⃣ Add the “germs”
Sprinkle a small amount of glitter onto your child’s hands.
(You can say: “This represents germs you can’t see.”)

2️⃣ Start spreading
Have your child:
-Shake hands with a family member
-Touch a toy
-Touch a doorknob or table
-High-five someone

Watch how quickly the glitter spreads everywhere ✨

3️⃣ Observe together
Ask:
“Where did the germs go?”
“How fast did they spread?”
“What did you touch after your hands?”

4️⃣ Time to wash up
Head to the sink and wash hands together:
-Wet hands with water
-Use soap and lather for at least 20 seconds
-Scrub palms, backs of hands, between fingers, and under nails

5️⃣ Check the difference
Look at the hands afterward:
- Is the glitter gone?
- What spots did you miss?

6️⃣ Talk about it
Quick takeaway for kids:
🗣️ “Soap helps trap germs and wash them away so we stay healthy!”

💡 Parent tip:
If glitter sticks in some spots, it’s a great reminder of why proper handwashing matters (and why rushing doesn’t work!).
