💙💛 Celebrating World Down Syndrome Day 💛💙

All week long we’ve been rocking our extra fun socks to celebrate and spread awareness of our sweet friends 🧦
Today, we celebrate the strength, joy, and incredible abilities of individuals with Down Syndrome. Every extra chromosome brings extra love, light, and a whole lot of happiness to the world 💫
We loved attending the Buddy Walk today and walking alongside some amazing families.

We will be at the Peanut Festival Fairgrounds this Saturday at 9am! All are welcome. Please enter through the South Entrance. If you have not pre-registered, it will be $5 admission. There will be lots of activities (characters, dj, photo booth, balloon art, face painting, carnival games, inflatables and more!). At 10:30am the ceremonies will begin and each buddy will have the opportunity to be individually celebrated on stage. Around 11:15 we will kick off the walk (one short lap around the fairgrounds). Lunch will be served upon completion of the walk. We hope to see you there!

💡Tip Tuesday

Functional activities are one of the best ways to work toward therapy goals! When skills are practiced through everyday tasks, children are more engaged and the progress carries over into home routines.

In therapy, we recently worked on dynamic standing balance by having our friend help re-organize toys in the clinic. Standing, reaching, squatting, and moving while sorting toys helped build strength while practicing a real-life skill.

Supporting the balance and movement skills needed to move around safely and efficiently while cleaning her bedroom at home.

When therapy activities connect to everyday life, kids build confidence and independence along the way! 💙💛❤️
