Southeast Health Foundation The Southeast Health Foundation, Inc. is a 501 (c)(3) public, not-for-profit public charity, founded in May 2006.

As part of Southeast Health’s humanitarian role, annual operating expenses are underwritten by the Medical Center so that 100 percent of gifts received will benefit the healthcare service or community wellness initiative specified. In addition to individual and corporate gifts, the Foundation also conducts several special events annually. Net proceeds from these activities are directed as indicate

d in specific event literature. The Southeast Health Foundation is a nonprofit, public charity. As such, the Foundation operates within the rules and regulations established by the United States government, specifically abiding the laws that allow for the operation of public charities. The Foundation must provide proof that funds contributed are used for the purposes for which they were intended. In addition to filing documents with the Internal Revenue Service as required, donors and the public receive regular updates regarding the status of the projects and how their donations are being used.

Our Southeast Health Foundation Board of Trustees Retreat, led by Paul Hamann with American City Bureau, was filled with thoughtful conversation, big-picture planning, and a shared commitment to the work ahead. We spent time digging into the vital role our trustees play in shaping the future of healthcare for the community we serve and supporting the vision of the Houston County Health Care Authority Board.

The impact of this board reaches far beyond a meeting room; it touches patients at Southeast Health and students at the Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine. We are grateful for leaders who are willing to ask hard questions, think boldly, and invest their time and hearts into making our community the BEST it can be!

Congratulations to our 2026 Michael Miller Memorial Scholarship recipients!

This year, the Southeast Health Foundation awarded $16,000 in scholarships to four outstanding TeenAge Volunteers (TAVs). Each student received a $4,000 scholarship honoring the legacy of Michael Miller, whose kindness, selfless spirit and dedication to Southeast Health and our community continue to inspire us all.

The Southeast Health Foundation is honored to establish the Marla Meadows Hodge Memorial Scholarship, celebrating the life and legacy of Marla Meadows Hodge, a beloved member of the Southeast Health Cardiovascular Institute.

A certified registered nurse practitioner, Marla was known for her compassion, positivity, and dedication to patients and colleagues alike. An initial $50,000 gift has been awarded by the Foundation's Employee Council to establish the scholarship, creating a lasting tribute to the impact she made.

A massive "Hole-in-One" for our community! ⛳️

We are absolutely blown away by the turnout for the 5th Annual Jim Whaley Tires - 4 Golf Classic! The community truly showed up and showed out this year, and thanks to your incredible generosity, we raised a staggering $108,855 for ACOM scholarships! 🥳

These funds go directly toward supporting the next generation of physicians at the Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine. ACOM is pioneering the future of healthcare right here in our backyard, and their success truly benefits us all.
