For those of you in more northern climates who think they can't forage in the winter, I say "get off your duffs!" I needed poke root for a topical formula for a client and shortsightedly tinctured all that I had this past autumn. I remembered a patch, grabbed a shovel, and got a good workout digging through snow, rocks, and blackberry brambles to get to them. Success!

Our Maven, Maggie Baker Conklin went to the Georgia Bushcraft conference last weekend where she taught classes on hunting and fishing for women. She made many new friends, spent time with many old friends, and even ran into Heirloom Academy student Philip Winter!
