Each month, we explore a new country; this month, our focus was Mexico. We commenced the day with a documentary about Mexico. Our lunch consisted of chicken fajitas accompanied by chips and salsa. Following lunch, we retired to our rooms for a siesta. Later, we gathered at the pool table and took turns hitting the piñata, concluding the day with a game of table pool.

Even though we are at the end of the month, May is Anxiety Awareness Month. It’s an important reminder that emotional health matters at every age.

Many seniors experience anxiety due to life changes such as health concerns, loss of loved ones, or adjusting to new routines. Staying socially connected, active, and supported can make a meaningful difference in overall well-being.

Memorial Day is also a time to reflect on the stories and generations who lived through moments in history that shaped our nation. Many of our residents carry powerful memories of those times, reminding us of the strength, resilience, and patriotism that continue to inspire us.

Unfortunately, seniors are often targeted by fraudsters using phone calls, emails, or messages that create urgency or fear. Knowing the warning signs—like requests for gift cards, personal information, or urgent payments—can help prevent these scams before they happen.

Talking openly about fraud awareness helps protect the seniors we care about. A quick conversation with a loved one today could help them recognize and avoid a scam tomorrow.
