Maine Public Health Nursing and Helping Hands with Heart will be hosting the Older Adult Expo at Central Hall Commons in Dover-Foxcroft. This event is designed as a vibrant "one-stop" opportunity for older adults in the Maine Highlands to discover local resources, connect with community members, and engage with expert speakers, including Jess Maurer. Join us on Friday, April 24th, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

We are delighted to have the Foxcroft Academy Select Choir as part of our Pine Tree Hospice Variety Show lineup! Come join us for a great afternoon for a good cause on Saturday, April 11th at Center Theatre!

The Foxcroft Academy Select Choir competed at the 2026 Maine Jazz Choir Festival at Stearns High School in Millinocket on Saturday afternoon. Foxcroft was awarded a silver medal for their three-song performance. Special congratulations to Axel Carlson, who received an Outstanding Musician Award for his great work. For 20 years, Helen Higgins and Rita Mountain have shared their time, talent, and heart with Pine Tree Hospice as both quilters and direct care volunteers. Since 2006, Helen and Rita have created the annual raffle quilt, dedicating countless hours to a tradition that has brought beauty and joy to our community while raising much-needed funds to support our work. Each quilt, taking around 80 hours to make, is then expertly longarm finished by Vicki Brackett of Quiltingmania.

Rita stepped away from the quilt project in 2023 due to health issues and a move to be closer to family. Helen has also announced her retirement—this year’s “HOPE” quilt will be her last raffle quilt. We are deeply grateful for the extraordinary contributions of both Helen and Rita!

Is "Throwback Thursday" still a thing? The Pine Tree Hospice Variety Show started in 1996, originally composed of Mayo Regional Hospital staff and friends sharing their talents in a show cheekily titled, “Medical Acts Never Before Seen in Public.” Thirty years later, the show has grown into a celebration of our community. Join us April 11th!
