According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, on average, there are about 160 Christmas decorating-related injuries EACH DAY during the holiday season--nearly half of those incidents involving falls. Just between Nov. 1, 2022 - Jan.31, 2023, about 14,900 people were treated in hospital emergency departments due to holiday decorating-related injuries.
Make sure you maintain good safety habits while decorating this year--being especially careful that your environment is free of debris and tripping hazards and that you're using adequate lighting, practicing proper lifting techniques, and making sure, if you must hang decorations up high, that you're using safe and sturdy ladders or stools on firm, level ground.
