📍Exploring the Heart of Dover with Our Internal Medicine Residents!

Our Internal Medicine interns took a break from the hospital halls to explore the charm and history of Dover! 🏛️💙 A big thank-you to Dina Vendetti, president of the Central Delaware Chamber of Commerce, for planning and leading an unforgettable day for our internal medicine residents! From local flavors to historic insights, her coordination made every moment possible.

🥐 We kicked off the day with coffee and pastries from the beloved La Baguette, where co-owner/operator Anita Wheeler-Bezy shared the history and offerings of this true Delaware gem!

We were honored to have Mayor Robin Christiansen guide us through a historic walking tour of downtown Dover, sharing stories that brought the city’s past to life. We also learned more about the ongoing growth and development plans aiming to bring back the hustle and bustle of a thriving city center, located mere blocks from the Bayhealth Kent campus.

🌾 Next stop: Fifer Orchards—where we enjoyed a delicious lunch, a scenic tractor tour through the fields, and all the fun of their Fall Fest! 🎃🍂 From fresh produce to festive treats, it was the perfect taste of Delaware farm life.

🍦No tour is complete without mini golf and a sweet treat from Tres Sorelle Dolce—thank you for the delicious scoops and warm hospitality!

🎉 A special highlight: an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at Legislative Hall, personally led by Senator Eric Buckson—an unforgettable glimpse into the heart of Delaware’s government. 🇺🇸

It’s not just about medicine—it’s about community, connection, and calling Dover home. 🩺❤️

It doesn’t. At the Bayhealth Internal Medicine Residency Program, we are committed to interviewing and recruiting passionate individuals who will be ECFMG certified by the time residency starts. We do not screen out international colleagues who haven’t graduated yet or whose ECFMG certification is still pending.

We will review current ECFMG status the week before the rank order list deadline on February 9. (We are participating in the early list lock pilot.)

At Bayhealth, our Internal Medicine Residency program doesn’t just offer broad-based adult medicine training—it also serves as a springboard into three distinct fellowship paths.

We’re proud to offer:

Gastroenterology Fellowship – Newly ACGME‑accredited and launching in July 2025, the first of its kind in Delaware, with a full cohort expected by 2028.

Hematology & Medical Oncology Fellowship – Train alongside expert oncologists and hematologists in a cutting-edge program that equips you to manage complex cancers and blood disorders—right here in Delaware.

Sports Medicine Fellowship – A dynamic 1‑year program teaching clinical care, musculoskeletal ultrasound, and team‑physician skills, based in Dover.

For trainees, clinicians, and future fellows—Bayhealth is not just a place to train; it’s a place to take the next big step, right here in Delaware.
