Dr. John / Lovin Family Chiropractic Update
FRIDAY MAY 24TH
We have been overwhelmed with all the kindness, phone calls, text messages, cards, etc. we have been shown from all of our patients, friends and community. We are truly lucky to have so many wonderful people who care about us!
We have been getting a bunch of questions about Dr. John and when he will return and lots of questions on exactly what happened.
Two weeks ago Dr. John got off work on Thursday night and felt more tired than normal, he felt winded and out of breath. By Friday morning it was worse. We went to his general Dr in Paris where they told him he was actively in AFIB. This condition is where the heart is beating irregularly and fast. Dr. John's heart rate was 155. The Dr. advised us that it was best to drive to St Thomas West (which is a heart hospital ) and go straight to the emergency room so they could potentially shock his heart back into place.
We went to the hospital and prepared for the testing. Once we got there they started doing all the appropriate tests that one has done in his situation. They shocked his heart, which unfortunately did not correct his AFIB, they then put him through days of testing trying to find out WHY he had AFIB. All of his labs and every single test they did came back normal. He is healthy at all accounts except his heart is not beating in normal rhythm.
He has spent the last week at home just gaining his strength back and feeling back to normal after laying in a hospital bed for days. He has had a great week and is stronger each day. He is ready to return to work on Monday and looks forward to seeing his wonderful patients. We expect to work a normal week other than on Wednesday the 29th, we will work till lunch and then have to close because he has a follow up appointment that afternoon. We will then wait for May 7th where he will undergo an outpatient procedure called an “ablation” where they will go into his heart and create tiny burns that will block the AFIB receptors from passing through. This is an easy procedure the Dr told us and we are hopeful that the procedure will be successful and his heart will go back into rhythm. From what we have learned during the last two weeks is that there is a silent epidemic of AFIB, 10 million Americans are suffering from this disorder today. I'm sure many of you reading this have dealt with this in one way or the other. Dr. John is looking forward to fixing this issue and putting it behind him. Thank you to all the patients who have been patient with us while we are dealing with this. We will HAPPILY see you Monday morning at 9 AM.
