Reading is built on language skills like vocabulary, sound awareness, comprehension, and sentence structure. When those skills are supported early, reading becomes easier and more meaningful.

We are excited to offer reading support with our incredible SLP, Kara Seitz. Kara is highly trained, passionate about literacy, and fantastic at supporting children as they build strong reading foundations.

National Mental Wellness Month 💚
At Beyond Pediatric Therapy, we want to take a moment to recognize the caregivers.

Caring for a child with additional needs is deeply meaningful and deeply demanding. Caregivers often juggle therapy appointments, school meetings, medical decisions, daily routines, and the emotional weight of advocating for their child, all while putting their own needs last.

Mental wellness matters just as much for caregivers as it does for the children they support. Feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, or stretched thin does not mean you are failing. It means you are human.

This month, we encourage caregivers to pause and check in with themselves. Rest when you can. Ask for help when you need it. Give yourself permission to feel both love and fatigue at the same time. Supporting your own mental well-being is not selfish. It is essential.

At Beyond, we see the strength it takes to show up every day for your child, and we are honored to support not just progress in therapy, but the well-being of the whole family.

You are not alone. You are doing important work. 💚

Join us in wishing a very happy birthday to Carolyn (Karri) Sparrow. Karri is one of our Speech Language Pathologists and serves as our AAC Coordinator here at Beyond Pediatric Therapy.

Karri has brought an incredible amount of knowledge, dedication, and compassion to our team. She has played a key role in growing our AAC program and supporting both therapists and families as they navigate communication supports. Join us in wishing a very happy birthday to Molly. Molly is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who joined Beyond Pediatric Therapy in September 2024 and played a key role in launching and growing our mental health program.

We are so thankful for the way Molly has helped pave the way for mental health services at Beyond. She brings compassion, knowledge, and thoughtfulness to her work and is a trusted support for both her team members and the families we serve. Help us wish a very happy birthday to Olivia Shearon. Olivia is one of our Speech Language Pathologists and has been with Beyond Pediatric Therapy for a year and a half. She brings so much joy, positivity, and warmth to our clinic each day.

Hands on learning moments like this are where skills, confidence, and connection grow. Feeding therapy is about exploration, problem solving, and building comfort in a supportive environment, and we love seeing these meaningful interactions unfold.

We also love showcasing our graduate students. Katy has been an amazing addition to Beyond Pediatric Therapy during her graduate student placement. She has been thoughtful, dedicated, eager to learn, and incredibly supportive to both families and therapists. Katy consistently showed professionalism, curiosity, and compassion, and we truly loved supporting her education and growth as a future clinician.

Katy finishes her time with us this week as she moves on to her final placement before graduating in May. We will absolutely miss her and are so proud of all she has accomplished.

Movement, confidence, and joy all in one moment. Our sensory gym creates opportunities for kids to build strength, coordination, balance, and body awareness through play based movement in a safe and supportive environment.

We are excited to share that our Sensory Gym is now available at our State Street location. This space allows our therapists to support regulation, motor planning, and sensory processing while keeping therapy fun and engaging.

OT and PT Tip:
Movement activities like swinging, climbing, and balancing help strengthen core muscles and improve body awareness. These skills support posture, coordination, attention, and participation in everyday activities at home and school.

Fresh Starts. Strong Foundations.
Moments like this are where feeding foundations are built. Practicing safe positioning, using adaptive feeding tools, and supporting independence one sip at a time. In feeding therapy, we focus on helping children feel confident and successful with their feeding skills in a way that works for their bodies and needs.

Feeding Therapy Tip:
Proper positioning matters. A stable, supported seated position helps with safety, coordination, and comfort during feeding. When the body feels secure, skills like drinking and swallowing become easier to practice and improve.

Every small step builds toward long term success, and we are proud to support our kiddos and families through each part of the journey. 💙

🎉 Belated Happy Birthday, Fergy 🎉
We may be a little late, but the appreciation is right on time. Help us wish a belated happy birthday to Jennifer Ferguson, lovingly known as Fergy by her coworkers. Fergy is one of our Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants and is truly an absolute gem.

She works incredibly hard, loves her job, and brings so much heart into everything she does. Her families and kiddos adore her, and she consistently shows up with dedication, compassion, and a deep knowledge of her craft. Fergy is always willing to jump in, help wherever needed, and support her teammates without hesitation. We often joke that we wish we could clone her, and honestly, we mean it.

We are so grateful for everything Fergy brings to Beyond Pediatric Therapy and hope her birthday was just as amazing as she is. 💙🎂

We are excited to share that we are officially launching a brand new system called Ocean Friends for scheduling, communication, billing, and documentation beginning today. This new platform has many features that we know will be a huge benefit to our families.

We encourage you to download the Ocean Friends app, where you will be able to access your child’s records, update personal and insurance information, view appointments and therapy notes, pay your bill, and access receipts and superbills for insurance or flex spending reimbursement. We will also be rolling out online scheduling soon, allowing you to book appointments directly without needing to call or text the office. Online scheduling will begin on 1/12/2026.

To get started, please download the app today and log in using the phone number we currently have on file for your family. We can also securely share pictures and videos with you through the app.

We also have a new texting number, 302-609-0280. This number does not replace our current office phone number. It allows families to text our office and also call us through the same line. Please save this number as Beyond Pediatric Therapy for easy access.
Thank you for your patience as we transition to Ocean Friends. System changes can take time, and we truly appreciate your understanding as we work through any initial adjustments. We are very excited about what this means for our families and the care we provide.
