DVT (blood clot) vs Cellulitis (Infection)

Although both conditions can present similar symptoms and they can also co-exist (show at the same time); there are different thus their treatment varies.

Patients experiencing cellulitis present with “raised temperature, edema, pain, and erythema in the affected area (1); which may include more than one part of the body.

While Patients having Blood clots “may report symptoms of pain, swelling, warmth and discoloration or redness (2)” to a localized area most times.

How do you protect yourself from either condition?

**Know your risk factors and address them with your health care provider (P*P)
**Stay active
**Avoid extreme humidity and/or sun exposure
**Take all your medications as prescribed
**When traveling, wear compression stockings if permitted/advised by your P*P

IMPORTANT

If you develop signs and symptoms contact your P*P right away 💙

3/30/2026 marks a milestone for Nurse Practitioners (NP) in NJ.

This past Monday, Governor Mikie Sherrill “signed legislation to eliminate selective restrictions for advanced practice nurses (APNs) practicing in New Jersey” (2).

What does this mean to the Health & Wellness Center of NJ patients?

We will continue to provide Primary and Preventative care to our community with the exception of fear of having to close the practice due to lack of collaborator (a Medical Doctor willing to collaborate on the care of our patients).

The signing of this bill “ensures that advanced practice nurses with extensive clinical experience are able to continue independently providing primary and behavioral health care service”(2).

Although not a requirement at this time, we have opted to continue working with a Collaborating Physician to ensure NPs mentorship and guidance available when needed.

El 30 de Marzo se alcanzó un progreso para la profesión de Enfermería Avanzada (NP) en NJ.

Este pasado Lunes, la Gobernadora Mikie Sherrill firmó la legislación que elimina las barreras hacia lo/as NPs que trabajamos en NJ.

¿Qué significa esta legislación para los pacientes de Health & Wellness Center de NJ?

Continuaremos ofreciendo servicios de Medicina Primaria y Preventivos con la excepción de no preocuparnos de cerrar nuestras puertas por falta de un colaborador (Un/a Médico/a dispuesto a trabajar conjuntamente en el servicio de nuestros pacientes).

La firma de este documento asegura que las Enfermeras Avanzadas con experiencia en su área de salud podrán seguir ejerciendo independientemente.

Aunque no es necesario tener un colaborador en este momento hemos decidido continuar nuestra participación con una Médico para de esta forma tener mentoría y apoyo cuando sea preciso.

Gastritis is not the new normal….

Gastritis (inflammation of the Gastrointestinal track) could have many reasons. If untreated, this can create a cascade of health problems.

The root cause of “Gastritis is difficult to diagnose based on clinical symptoms (1)”. Many times an endoscopy and biopsy is necessary,

Thus, it’s important to have a medical evaluation if you suffer from burning pain in the upper abdomen, nausea, vomiting, feeling of fullness, etc.

Gastritis no es lo normal…..
Gastritis (inflamación del sistema gástrico) puede tener varias razones. Si se deja sin tratamiento podría causar una cascada de problemas de salud.

La causa de la gastritis es difícil de diagnosticar. Algunas veces una endoscopia y una biopsia son necesarias.

Por tanto es necesario buscar ayuda médica si está sufriendo de sensación de fuego en la Boca del estómago, náusea, vómito, sensación de sentirse lleno/a, etc.

Second Anniversary!

It is with great pride that we celebrate our second anniversary.

As I’ve mentioned before, this center was a long-sought (over 30 years) dream that came to reality February 18,2024. However this achievement (Dream) wouldn’t have been possible without the support of and the handholding of God, Family, Friends, Mentors, and the Community’s.

We appreciate the constant support and look forward to continuing providing our services for years to come.

De Acuerdo al reporte proporcionado por el departamento de salud del estado de NJ, la Influenza sigue ocupando el primer lugar entre las infecciones virales esta temporada.

Aun cuando este es el virus que más está afectando mas actualmente los centros de salud nos advierten que cada año los virus como influenza, RVS, COVID-19 son la causa de varias hospitalizaciones en NJ.

According to the latest NJ illness advisory report, Flu continues to be the main source of sick visits and hospitalization this season.

Although Flu is the main culprit, there are other viruses following the charts.
“Each year, respiratory viruses such as COVID-19, influenza (flu), and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) cause hospitalizations and deaths in New Jersey (1)”.
