Many people in Western culture lose their ability to deep squat. Restoring it is one of the best things you can do. In some cultures this is their sitting posture.

Coming up and holding the position that’s hardest for you to maintain—as shown in the video—is an indication that this may be your weakest spot within the squat. You want to strengthen this area.

Tightness along the inner thigh/hamstring can inhibit:

Hip extension — making it harder to fully open the back of the hip.

Hip abduction — limiting your ability to move the leg out to the side.

Pelvic stability — pulling the pelvis into slight tuck or rotation.

Glute activation

Deep core responsiveness — because pelvic positioning affects how the abdominal wall and diaphragm coordinate.

Efficient gait mechanics — shortening stride and altering push-off.
