Chicory root “coffee”

I have a slooooow COMT gene. That means I don’t break down catecholamines (adrenaline and caffeine) down very well. This is why I rarely drink coffee. It makes me:
☑️ jittery
☑️ anxious
☑️ extra sweaty🥵
☑️ less able to handle stress

Don’t get me wrong - I LOVE coffee. I had to learn to love myself more 😂❤️

What you see in my French press is roasted chicory root which has some health benefits:
💜 anti-tumor
💜 antioxidant rich
💜 is a great prebiotic to feed my good gut bacteria
💜 immunomodulatory (it’s good for my immune system)

Our bodies experience 3 forms of stress:
1. Physical
2. Emotional
3. Chemical

People come to our clinic for help with the chemical stress (blood sugar issues, autoimmunity, gut problems, hormonal imbalances, so on). We’ll work with them on all 3 forms of stress since they all impact each other.

One of my favorite ways to change emotional stress is gratitude. The 5 Minute Journal is one I recommend for all my patients and clients (it’s often a gift they get when working with us). It helps me to see the silver lining or good in every day, whether the day overall was wonderful or not as great as I wish it would have been 😉

I was asked what I eat for lunch.

While it changes from day to day, this is my quick go to. It looks small, but the picture is deceiving. This meal contains a little carbs, a ton of protein, and a nice dose of healthy fats. With my history of blood sugar issues and unhappy hormones, this is perfect for me.

3 chicken thighs
Handful of blueberries
At least 2tbsp of sunflower seeds (I’m seed cycling)
A bunch of leafy greens (there’s a variety in there)
Covered in Braggs organic vinaigrette

Also pictured: my apple snack 😂

This simple meal contains the macros I need PLUS the polyphenols my gut and hormones need. It can be that easy!
