Pledge Fitness Welcome to Pledge Fitness – Your Gateway to a Healthier, Stronger You in Downey, California! Go Bears!

We are a Veteran Owned and Operated Strength and Conditioning training facility in the city of Downey. We are conveniently located near all major freeways and less than a mile away from Downey Landing and the Promenade at Downey. We have been serving our country since 2005 and the Downey residents since 2012. We strive to help our community achieve greater health and functionality. When we say help our community, we truly mean “our community.” The program director and owner is a resident of Downey and a Warren High School Alumni. Whether your goal is to improve your overall health, train for a specific sport, or prepare for a future career as a first responder or service member, Pledge Fitness will provide you with the knowledge, tools, and more importantly with the support you will need to be successful. We’ve officially wrapped up week two of training. That means there are 10 weeks left until our next fitness assessment.

This is your reminder to dial in now. Track your numbers, know your baseline, and give yourself a clear target to beat when assessment day comes. Progress is easier when it’s measured.

Starting in February, we’re launching 9 AM classes on Fridays and Saturdays.

These classes are open to everyone, but are especially designed for parents who cannot make early mornings and can train after school drop-off. All current members are welcome to attend.

If the 9 AM classes gain traction, we’ll add a Wednesday 9 AM as well. If you’re interested in mid-morning training, share this with friends — especially other parents. You’ll receive 10% off for every referral you bring in.

Yesterday was our first official conditioning day.

If Saturday’s assessment or yesterday’s cardio humbled you, this is your sign not to skip the runs. Strength matters, but cardio is what keeps you going as you age.

Tuesdays & Thursdays ACCESSORY will include a 1–2 mile run to finish the workout. Optional… but highly encouraged if running is your weakness.

Less show, more go. Let’s build real fitness this year. 💪🏽🏃‍♂️

Our Top 3 men and women have officially been determined and will be announced later today.💪🏼

Some of these were very close calls. As mentioned on test day, the tiebreakers came down to pull-ups/chin-ups and the run. The athletes who made the podium were the ones who showed the best overall balance across all the tests.

Now everyone has a clear picture of their strengths and weaknesses. The goal moving forward is simple:
maintain your strengths and invest more time into improving your weaknesses.

For example, if your bench press hit the intermediate category but the rest of your numbers were baseline or below, that’s a sign to shift your focus. Stop chasing what you’re already good at and start bringing up what’s holding you back. The goal is to be well-rounded.

We’re proud of all of you. Use these numbers not as discouragement, but as direction. Set short-term goals to reach your long-term ones.

Next fitness assessment: 3 months.

2026 is here, and tomorrow we kick off our first Quarterly Fitness Assessment of the year.

This assessment gives you a clear snapshot of where your fitness stands and helps set the direction for what you should focus on improving throughout the year.

Weigh-ins begin at 8:45 AM. Please arrive on time.

The assessment will include:
• Pull-ups
• Squats
• Bench press
• Deadlifts
• 2-mile run (to conclude)

All reps must meet the standard. Any questionable reps will not count.

To progress to the next category, all prerequisites must be completed before advancing, with the exception of the run. This structure is in place to keep everyone safe while testing.

We’re excited to see everyone’s numbers and, more importantly, to track your progress over the year. Show up ready, give your best effort, and let’s set the tone for 2026.
