This week this has been a theme in my sessions. Parents often say “I gave it all for them and now they don’t appreciate it” or “why is it that they don’t come home for the holidays after everything I gave them?” It’s about the quality of time. It’s about being intentional with your children. It’s about building this foundation so that when they get to be adults you are still part of their lives. It’s not about what you buy them, that will only get your child to learn about transactional relationships . Not about meaningful relationships. 🛋👩🏻‍🏫

If you hear your child speaking negatively about themselves, body shaming themselves or questioning their capabilities. Instead of getting upset at them for that, 🛑 stop- and reflect to see if you or another adult talks that way. Parenting is HARD! They are constantly watching what parents do. 🛋👩🏻‍🏫

I often hear from my clients say, “ if he cheats one more time I’m leaving. Or “If we don’t get engaged by the end of the year I’m breaking up with him.” And then there is no follow through when these expectations aren’t met. So what’s the difference between boundaries/ expectations/ ultimatums? 👂🎧I will explain it here. But I tell my clients you need to be ready to go through with the consequences when you set an expectations. Many couples end up in divorce when they are given an ultimatum. 🛋👩🏻‍🏫 🍃🛋️
