Had a blast at Strongman Friday with ! He gave me a crash course on proper technique for lifting and loading an Atlas stone and then we jumped straight into the stone off. This stone weighs 115 lb and we each did 10 reps total. It was too light so next time, we're using the 135 lb stone!

To almost all problems, there is what is called a ‘positive intention’. This is something that is good that is rooted in the problem.

An example would be someone who smokes to relieve stress.

While they may not like that they smoke, the positive intention of the behavior is that it relieves stress. Knowing this allows you to focus on the positive intention such as looking for a new, healthier way to relieve stress.

Likewise, for someone who is very stressed out, the positive intention for why they think about this situation so much is because their brain is trying to figure out a good solution. Knowing this, the focus of a session of hypnosis can be on tapping into the unconscious to come up with a solution you haven’t been able to consciously think of.

10 approaches for hypnotic pain relief.

This list is meant to pique interest in hypnosis as a clinical tool as well as illustrate that there are many ways to accomplish your goals. If one approach doesn’t work for you, there are several other avenues a clinician can go down with you.

People tend to naturally respond to certain hypnotic phenomena better than other ones. Someone may not respond to dissociation suggestions but can achieve anesthesia easily.

In the end, the same result is accomplished – pain relief.
