Pregnancy can bring a lot of unexpected changes — including changes to your hearing.

Tinnitus (ringing in the ears) and other hearing issues are more common during pregnancy and are often linked to hormonal shifts. In many cases, these changes resolve after childbirth.

That said, any new ringing, hearing changes, or unusual sounds are worth mentioning to your doctor. Hearing your own heartbeat in your ears, in particular, can be a sign of a more serious condition (like high blood pressure) and should be checked out as soon as possible.
