👀👀 Yeah that’s me too 🥳🥳🙌🏻🙌🏻

The reality of it is that therapists are human too. We don’t have all of the answers, and a lot of times we give advice that we know we need to be taking ourselves.

With that being said - dancing will ALWAYS be a great coping skill 😁💃

I never use metaphors in therapy. And if I do, I always know exactly where they’re going… 😉😂

The truth? I use them all the time and sometimes even I don’t know how they’ll land until we explore them together. That’s part of the process. Therapy isn’t about having a perfectly scripted roadmap. It’s about being present, curious, and human alongside you.

Because at the heart of therapy, it’s not about the metaphor, it’s about the relationship.

We have therapists waiting to support you. Check us out at www.HeartofTherapy.com

In therapy, insight alone isn’t enough. Many of us come in armed with research, self-awareness, and intellectual understanding… and still find ourselves undone by the feelings we thought we had mastered.

That’s because healing doesn’t happen through thinking alone. It happens when we allow ourselves to feel, safely and fully, in the presence of someone who can hold that with us.

At Heart of Therapy, we create space for both: your knowledge and your emotions. Together, they make lasting change possible.

A proper assessment and diagnosis can literally save lives.

Too often, women, people of color, and adults who’ve made it this far without support are overlooked or misdiagnosed. Many have carried years of self-doubt, exhaustion, and pain, wondering why life felt so hard, without realizing they were living with undiagnosed Autism or ADHD.

At Heart of Therapy, our neuroaffirming assessment program is built on compassion, inclusion, and understanding. We don’t just hand you a label, we walk alongside you, offering:
-Thorough, individualized evaluations
-Written reports you can use for school, work, or accommodations
-An affirming approach that honors your identity, culture, and lived experience

You don’t have to keep wondering. You deserve clarity, relief, and the chance to reclaim your story.

RSD, or Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria, is more than just being “sensitive.”

For many Autistic and ADHD individuals, the brain rapidly scans for signs that someone might not like us, a look, a pause, a shift in tone, pulling from years of collected experiences. And when our mind sends the signal, the emotional pain is real and intense. 💔

This isn’t weakness. This isn’t “overreacting.” It’s a valid neurodivergent experience.

At Heart of Therapy, we hold space for this reality with compassion, understanding, and tools to support healing. You don’t have to carry it alone.

This!!!

Sometimes the hardest thing we’ll ever do is take the steps to heal from our past hurts. Healing is not always easy, it can be painful. It often means letting go of a version of ourselves that was shaped by pain. That version feels familiar: we know how it thinks, how it reacts, and what to expect from it.

Healing asks us to step into the unknown. It means learning what it feels like to set boundaries with those who harmed us, or to stop living in a state of constant hyper-vigilance. It also means that our viewpoints, values, and beliefs may shift, and with that, we may have to face and take responsibility for ways we have caused hurt, too. And choosing to grow from it.

Hard. Messy. Brave. Worth it.

Do you need support and guidance on your healing journey?

At Heart of Therapy in Doylestown, PA, our clinicians bring the education, tools, and insight to help you move forward. From individual therapy to family therapy, groups and assessments, we’re here to walk with you on the path to healing.

✨ Healing happens here.

This is SO REAL and is a breeding ground for shame. A question yu can ask yourself in these moments is - what am I avoiding/worried about/afraid of happening if I complete the task? Sometimes the answer is surprising, and sometimes it can give you insight into what you may need to do to support completing the task.

For me it’s really hard to finish paperwork. As weird as it might sound, most of the time I’m avoiding all of the little tasks that come AFTER it’s done. So, I give myself permission to wait to do those tasks and instead figure out a reward for myself that will feel good. Most of the times it’s watching whatever show I’m binging, playing a video game or taking a short nap. It’s not foolproof - but it works (most of the time 😉).

This is way too realistic. Many individuals who receive diagnoses like Autism and ADHD experience this type of feedback from family, friends, employers, medical providers and the broader community. It can be incredibly dysregulating and invalidating when this happens. Just remember that you don’t have to prove yourself to anyone.

I see you ❤️

One thing I say in sessions, after sharing a connection I’m making, is “Does that make sense?” I don’t say it because I think my client is dumb or doesn’t understand the language I’m using. I say it because as soon as I speak, I am 100% sure that what just came out was pure gibberish 😂😂
