"I started seeing Dr. Grace when I was still suffering from the complications of having nerve damage to several cranial nerves due to having shingles in my ear a year prior.

"Dizziness, balance issues, head tilt, ear neuropathy, neck pain/stiffness, facial tightness, unwanted facial movements (synkinesis) from the facial palsy were things I was starting to believe I was going to have to learn to live with long-term, as I had felt like I had already tried it all.

"I was under the care of an ENT and a neurologist, tried two different types of vestibular therapy programs, completed a few months of PT, and tried massage therapy. I even did acupuncture elsewhere, but in the end, I was still struggling to function well in my everyday life.

"Then a friend told me about Dr. Grace and her training in acupuncture neurology, and I have been blown away by the healing I have experienced in all areas since being under her care.

"I went in hoping that maybe she could at least help with one or two things, but because of her knowledge, dedication to helping, and passion for learning, she has helped in ways that I didn’t think were possible at this point, even with the synkinesis.

"She also has many techniques and tools at her disposal to help with complicated cases like mine.

"A typical session for me entails acupuncture, vestibular exercises, and one or two other services or functional neurology exercises based on my biggest need at the time.

"I am beyond grateful for Dr. Grace, her caring nature, and her integrative approach to healing."

Very grateful for this latest 5-star review ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ which illustrates the unique ways that Bridge founder and senior acupuncturist Grace Rollins, DAc can make an impact with difficult neurological conditions.

We’d like to share in the generous spirit of the season and offer a promotion to patients we haven’t seen in a while.

Generally, for returning patients who have not continued care for several months, we ask for a additional modest fee to compensate the acupuncturist for the extra intake and evaluation, treatment planning, research and charting.

However, we LOVE when established patients pop back in that we haven’t seen for some time!

Let’s use Black Friday as an excuse to nudge you back in for some acupuncture— you get a discount, and we get to see you! Win-win!

Waiving the Re-eval fee comes out as 20% off your session!

We rarely offer specials like this so we hope you’ll take advantage. The discount will apply as long as you book your session before the end of this year—even if it is scheduled for next year!

Book online at bridge.janeapp.com, or by calling our wonderfully kind and helpful front desk. You can even text our main line at 215-348-8058. Hope to see you soon!

Emerging from a different philosophical and cultural background many centuries ago in China, acupuncture developed according to a “systems-based” approach, in contrast to the “reductionistic” approach that is prevalent in modern Western medicine.

This means that in order to understand how to treat a symptom or illness, in traditional Eastern medicine all systems are evaluated as part of a whole being that requires balance in order to maintain harmonious function.

Our practitioners utilize traditional methods of diagnosis such as pulse, tongue, palpation, questioning, and other forms of observation to identify imbalances that can be supported through the use of acupuncture point stimulation.

Modern scientific understanding about how acupuncture affects anatomy and physiology can synergistically work alongside with these powerful traditional models of systems-based diagnosis and treatment.

In this fashion, we practice integrative medicine every day at Bridge.

In one session, we may be treating the anatomical specifics of a nerve entrapment or stimulating scientifically established reflexes for brain blood flow, while also choosing acupuncture points for "constitutional" support such as improving the balance of an organ or a meridian.

The goal is to make the patient stronger overall while also treating the chief complaint.

Often your session will include recommendations on movement, nutrition or other lifestyle modifications in order to support your treatment outcome, because a living being is more than just the sum of its individual parts!

Are you loving or hating the rainy weather? 🌧️A strong shift in your symptoms during a weather pattern can indicate ways that your overall health can be supported.

Think of it like your internal climatic conditions. These can be cultivated to eliminate and balances that can create vulnerability to conditions like heat, cold, dampness, dryness.

Be sure to tell your acupuncturist if there are any weather patterns or times of year that really flare you up!

I had the pleasure of upgrading my skills in trigger point dry needling with Josh Lerner of Myopain Seminars .collective this past weekend. For our patients who get confused about this term I can’t blame you. “Dry needling" refers to a Western style of needling that emerged more or less independently of acupuncture over the past century. It’s called “dry” because non-acupuncturist clinicians used to think they needed to inject substances into trigger points to get the clinical results they later found they could achieve with a solid needle.

The primary researcher into trigger point needling was Dr. Janet Travell, an amazing figure who was a great influence across health disciplines and was one of JFK's physicians. Her work was published in the 1980s and is still heavily referenced. One of my first teachers and founder of the school where I earned my master’s, Dr. Mark Seem, was heavily influenced by Travell and made the study of trigger point needling mandatory in our curriculum alongside Japanese style acupuncture and TCM.

Though the needles are essentially the same as acupuncture needles, and there is overlap with traditional acupuncture techniques, for this style of needling we refer to orthopedic testing, pain referral patterns, and the precise palpation of tight and tender bands in muscle (trigger points). It's not always a suitable method due to the discomfort involved in the needling procedure, however it can be extremely helpful for orthopedics, headache/migraine, and other forms of chronic pain, and is a tool I'm happy to have in my toolbox.

Even as an acupuncturist who has used trigger point needling for two decades, it was wonderful to refine my abilities with up-to-date palpation and needling techniques as well as the anatomy and pain science review. I can highly recommend this course series from Myopain -- they are clearly walking in the footprints of Dr. Travell and the quality of instruction from Dr. Lerner, an acupuncture dry needling specialist, was superb.

Thank you Dao Collective for hosting another great learning opportunity. Onward towards the best possible care for our patients!

Some candids from a happy patient (who happens to love facial needles) during a Korean Facial Rejuvenation session.

What is Korean Facial Rejuvenation? 💆‍♀️ In what is sometimes called an "acupuncture face-lift," your body's natural restorative ability is harnessed through the use of very fine needles applied to the face, scalp and neck.

Our expert, Misook Lee, L.OM., is certified in the Korean-style F.A.C.E. system of facial rejuvenation, which helps to relax muscle tension, smooth lines, gently promote collagen production and stimulate healthy circulation and lymphatic flow.

This treatment may also benefit those who suffer muscle tics, tension headache, TMJ, dermatological conditions, and muscle weakness. Patients of all ages experience both immediate and cumulative effects that help them look and feel their best.

Some (not all) patients love needling sensation and find facial needles very relaxing. Points on the face stimulate reflexes that promote cerebral bloodflow and can induce mental calm and better sleep!

Learn more about Korean Facial Rejuvenation on our website, and book online or by contacting us directly! Links in bio.
