Our intention is to provide something for everyone... utilizing different approaches to yoga and other healing modalities. The Ashtanga Yoga asana practice is distinctive in its' use of "vinyasa" or "breath-synchronized movement". In other words, we link breath and yoga poses in a "moving meditation". he bodys' structural system and detoxifying the internal organs and muscular systems. These elements in combintation create a strong, flexible body, and increase cirulation, benefiting the body, mind, and spirit as a whole. Ashtanga Yoga is taught in the tradition of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois of Mysore, India. Ashtanga, as we know it, is thought to have originated from the centuries-old Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. "Ashtanga" translates as "Eight-limbed"....this eight-fold path offers not only a powerful physical practice, but a template for a thoughtful and healthy life. At Sun Dog Yoga Studio, we offer traditional Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga...this form of yoga blends asana, movement, breath, alignment and variety. Tibetan Heart Yoga...combining the Indian physical yoga practices with the Tibetan Yogic wisdom tradition, working with pranayama (breathing, asana(posture) and ethical practices. "Yoga for Stiff People", our gentle form of Hatha yoga, focuses on each posture individually in a slower, more thoughtful class. We offer weekly Pre-natal Yoga on our normal schedule, and have workshops for Moms and Babys...Namaste Baby! We have weekly Meditation and Chi-Kung classes. Our schedule will often include a variety of Kids Yoga classes...for ages 3 years and up.
