If you haven’t seen the Root Cause documentary yet, you need to check it out! It is an informative film delivered with a fun narrator and interesting storyline! It discusses the very real connection between our teeth and the rest of our body, and how poor dentistry can lead to detrimental health effects.

It came out years ago created quite the controversy in the allopathic dental community. Netflix began carrying the Root Cause documentary in January 2019. Netflix gave the film a huge audience and it quickly went viral. Not long after, the American Dental Association (ADA), American Association of Endodontists (AAE) and American Association of Dental Research (AADR) fired back.

On 29 January, the ADA, AAE, and AADR wrote a letter to Netflix warning that continuing to host the film on their platform could “harm the viewing public” by spreading misinformation about safe medical treatments like root canals. These associations also sent similar letters to Apple, Amazon and Vimeo, which also carried the film. The letter goes on to say:

“The film contains significant misinformation that is not supported by scientific evidence, which can cause unwarranted fear among viewers,” said Jeffrey M Cole, the president of the ADA.”

It is amazing the power of a single documentary… causing the dental industry to panic and try everything they could to sensor the information. Netflix ended up pulling Root Cause and Amazon discontinued selling copies. The whole censorship situation is tragic at best and downright frightening at worse.

Root Cause is still available on the internet and certain streaming services for only a few dollars. Hopefully you get a chance to see the documentary. If you cannot find it, ask Anthony about it next time you are in the office and he can help.
