Cassista Chiropractic

Cassista Chiropractic Chiro health/wellness speaker to groups, clubs, & organizations. FB managed by Dr. Lorraine Cassista I am a second generation chiropractor. I love to stay active.

My father had a practice in Dracut. I became a chiropractor because chiropractic saved my life – literally! When I was three years old, I got a collapsed lung from a fall off of the top bunk of a bunk bed. I was in the hospital and not responding well. My lung would not inflate even with the best interventions of the day. Because my father was studying to be a chiropractor at the time, he enlisted the help of a chiropractor who came to the hospital and gave me an adjustment. That adjustment turned my life power back on! My lung began to inflate and began the process of healing. When I was about seven, my parents told me the story. It impacted me so much that I have to say I became a chiropractor when I was seven. Since following the footsteps of my dad, I have never wanted to be anything else since then. Because of my personal experience and after learning the things I did in school, I realized that pain relief care alone was not enough. I work at giving people the opportunity to reach correction and wellness, so they not only feel better, they function better. Corrective chiropractic care helps get the spine back to normal much like an orthodontist helps straighten your teeth. Our best practice members are people who are eager to learn how the body works, want to make the changes necessary to attain and maintain health and want to be well and stay well, not only for themselves, but for their families. They understand that bringing their children in for care is the best way to allow them to grow and develop to reach their fullest potential! I enjoy tennis, golf, racquetball, basketball, sailing, wakeboarding, water skiing, snowboarding and generally love life. One of my favorite things is to speak to groups. As a result, I am a frequent guest speaker to many groups, clubs and organizations. I was the keynote speaker at a NH Nurse Practitioners Conference, speaker for Verizon Retirees two times, featured speaker for the Lowell Public school nurses and for area Catholic School PTO's and many other groups on a variety of topics. I love the feeling I get when I see light bulbs going on in peoples' heads when they get a realization and understanding of their bodies and what to do to stay healthy. Educating through speaking to groups is a close tie with tennis for what I love to do most. Chiropractor & sought-after health/wellness speaker to groups, clubs, & organizations taking the confusion out of healthcare. Good news of the week.
You know science keeps finding a gene for this and gene for that.? Well that doesn't mean you are destined for doom and gloom if you have a certain gene. Epigeneticists explain that just because you have a gene for a particular disease, it doesn't mean that you will get that disease. What you are exposed to in your environment, what kinds of food you eat, the air you breathe, chemicals you put on or in your body, etc. all make a difference in how that gene expresses itself.

Do you do a lot of repetitive motions with your hands and wrists? Do you experience the pain or discomfort of carpal tunnel syndrome?
Did you know that chiropractic isn’t just for treating back pain? In fact, many chiropractic techniques help benefit other parts of the body including the knees, ankles and even wrists. When your nervous system is working without interference, even your organs function better.
For office workers and those who have jobs that require extensive use of their hands, carpal tunnel syndrome is a growing problem. Symptoms can include tingling, numbness and pain in the hand and wrist. This type of repetitive stress injury occurs when the median nerve gets compressed in the carpal tunnel.
Fortunately, there are many natural ways to manage carpal tunnel syndrome without having to resort to surgery. If possible, rest the hand and wrist that are affected and consider wearing a wrist support. Apply ice to the affected area to reduce swelling.
Having your neck checked and adjusted for misalignments can do wonders for carpel tunnel as the nerves that come from the neck go into the wrists and hands. Many chiropractic methods may be able to help you effectively manage carpal tunnel syndrome. Learn more by visiting our office.

Could your posture use improvement? Do you have digestive issues or other health problems that just won't go away? When we say that the normal curves in your neck and back are really important to maintain for your health and wellbeing, we're not making it up. Scientific references to the importance of the integrity of the nervous system are numerous. Medical journals even say so. Unfortunately, most medical doctors are not aware of the problems it may pose to your health and why it may contribute to your symptoms and not being well. It's why chiropractors do what we do.

The term "natural flavoring" is kind of misleading, as it designates something derived from nature that may not necessarily be natural. Obtaining something from a natural source isn't the same thing as using something in its natural state, which is much healthier.
"In the Environmental Working Group’s (EWG) Food Scores database of over 80,000 foods, “natural flavor” is the fourth most common ingredient listed on labels. The only ingredients that outrank it: salt, water and sugar....Natural flavors are anything but natural."
Natural flavors may come from plant or animal sources but are manipulated in a lab y using additives, solvents and/or preservatives. They can be highly addictive so people may not know that the unhealthy food they are craving is actually causing the craving. Natural flavors can also appear in organic products. While not quite as bad, they are not good either. One example is MSG. Among other chemicals, MSG can be included in natural flavors without listing it on the label. It's best to avoid all if you can.

Is your child frequently taking antibiotics for ear infections or other conditions? Have you taken antibiotics in the past? Hopefully you know that antibiotics destroy your gut bacteria which are essential to good gut function and health in general. While many yogurts contain probiotics, they are not always the best choice depending on the sugar content which can be quite high. Plain whole Greek yogurt is a better yogurt choice. You can control the amount of sugar and/or fruit you put in it.
What else can you eat that contains probiotics?
Fermented food like sauerkraut and kimchi are rich in probiotics. Other choices include tempeh, kefir, buttermilk, aged cheeses like Parmigiano Reggiano, cottage cheese, or any artisanal cheese all made from raw milk, pickles (stick to those without artificial color and preservatives) and kombucha.
If you don't like any of these foods, you can take probiotic capsules. We carry probiotics by Innate Response and Standard Process at our office. Ask about adding a probiotic to your diet the next time you come in for an adjustment.

They understand that bringing their children in for care is the best way to allow them to grow and develop to reach their fullest potential! In addition to using objective diagnostic equipment and delivering quality chiropractic care, we also utilize nutrition in our office. We carry the best, mostly organic whole food supplements available. We offer classes on diet and health management. Our 21-day cleanse is extremely effective at getting people on the right path to a healthy diet. Personally, I love to stay active.
