The kitchen is more than just a place to cook. It’s where connection happens. 🍳

At Megan’s House, this space is where residents come together to share meals, build daily routines, learn new skills, and take a pause in the middle of busy days. From cooking together to grabbing a piece of fruit before heading out, the kitchen becomes a grounding place that supports nourishment, structure, and community.

Moments like these remind us that healing often lives in the everyday of shared spaces at Megan's House!

Meet Marisol Nobrega, our newest Board Member at the Megan House Foundation!

Marisol is a lifelong resident of Lowell. She is 28-year veteran of the Lowell Police Department. Marisol is a Captain currently assigned as the Commander of Training, Recruiting and Hiring. Marisol became the first Hispanic woman to obtain the ranks of Sergeant, Lieutenant, and Captain in the history of the Lowell Police Department. She has served in the department in several different capacities throughout the years to include Sector Commander, Shift Commander, Criminal Investigation Division, Professional Standards Division, Family Services Division, Commander of Personnel and Detail and Staff Instructor at the Lowell Police Academy.

Additionally, she has served as Union President and Vice President for the Lowell Police Superior Officers Association. Marisol earned the 2013 Mentoring Award from the Massachusetts Association of Women in Law enforcement (MAWLE). She received the Middlesex Community College Foundation, Living the Dream Award in 2019. Marisol was recognized with a citation from Senator Edward Kennedy in 2019 and from State Representative, Vanna Howard in 2023. Most recently, Marisol was named Girls Inc.’s Today’s Woman in 2024 and Middlesex Community College’s Distinguished Alumni and Commencement Speaker in 2025.

Why Marisol supports Megan’s House:
“As a 28-year veteran police officer, I have witnessed firsthand the destruction addiction brings to families, not just in the community that I serve but including the destruction of those that are close to me. Addiction does not discriminate. Meghan House Foundation transforms struggle into strength and provides every young woman that walks through their door with hope, healing and the belief that their future is worth fighting for. Their work doesn’t just change lives, it inspires all of us to believe in second chances and the power we have as a community, when we come together. I am incredibly honored to be a part of this board.”

Join us in welcoming Marisol to the board -- we're very excited to have you join us!

“Live and let live. Let your feet guide you.”

Created by a former Megan’s House resident, this artwork reflects the ongoing journey of choosing your own path, one step at a time. Healing doesn’t require having everything figured out. It asks for presence and the courage to keep moving forward.

Even after residents graduate, their creativity and growth continue to leave a mark. This piece is a reminder that every step matters, and the path ahead is shaped by the choices you make along the way.

Recovery from substance use disorders is possible with the right tools!

A safe & supportive environment, employment & legal support, stable housing, and reliable transportation can make all the difference. At Megan's House, we start with making sure everyone is in a supporting living community where recovery can happen effectively.

This SUD Treatment Month, think about what recovery means to you & what components of the recovery process you value most.

Today, we honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and reflect on his words:

“Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”

At Megan’s House, we strive to live out this message. Every day, we see how care, understanding, and connection can create light even in the most difficult moments. By leading with love, we help make space for healing, growth, and hope.

On this MLK Day, we recommit ourselves to building a world rooted in empathy, justice, and opportunity for all.

“I’ve been struggling for too long. It’s time for a change. I’m ready to move on.”

This artwork, created by a Megan’s House resident, captures a powerful moment of choosing something different even when change feels scary. Healing often begins with acknowledging where you are and allowing yourself to imagine where you could go next.

At Megan’s House, residents are supported as they take those first steps forward at their own pace. Readiness doesn’t mean having all the answers. It means being willing to begin. 💜

When stability takes root, possibility follows. Sobriety opens doors to independence, dreams, and futures that once felt out of reach. At Megan’s House, we see this transformation every day.

This year, we’re inspired by the reminder that growth has no limits. 🌻
