It’s not always something glamorous or cool…

And most often it happens in ways you’d least expect or realistically prepare for.

Back Extensions - highly overlooked but solid for lower back injury prevention!

👉🏼 Fear of injury creates an automatic disconnect from the exact muscles you’re worried about injuring. 👈🏼

The brain creates a “protective tension” response & now those muscles aren’t even firing or activating properly.

Soooo…

Use exercises that are low weight, go slow & FEEL the contraction. Don’t avoid the specific exercises you know you should be doing!

Instill or create a better mind-muscle connection to the muscles you’re worried about injuring & it will help you avoid injury altogether.

This is the way. 💯💪🏼

I will preach it for as long as I can!

And let me preface, your pain is real. I know it’s frustrating. But you have every power to conquer it!

Your limitations start in your mind.

“I can’t.”
“Oh well.”
“I don’t care.”
“It is what it is.”

Treat the individual — not just their pain ‼️

We call this the “Biopsychosocial Approach”

✳️ Biological Factors: muscle imbalances, joint mobility, tissue sensitivity, muscle weakness

✳️ Psychological Factors: stress/anxiety, fear of movement or re-injury, confidence or self-efficacy

✳️ Social Factors: work demands, environment, sleep/recovery habits, support from family, friends & teammates

Pain is most often the victim, not the culprit. Treat the body & individual as a whole and you can get to the core of it all! 👂🏼🧠💪🏽

New home base loading… ‼️

Starting May 1 (maybe sooner) I’ll be taking clients out of a Sports Performance & Wellness gym! 💪🏽 located in Lehi, just north of Thanksgiving Point.

Trust me, you guys will want to check this out! 👀

In this space: cold plunges, saunas, red light therapy (coming soon), oxygen chamber, golf simulator, squat racks, free weights and turf area.

I’ll still be offering my manual therapy + corrective exercise, but now with access to a next-level recovery and training environment!

And yes, I’ll still be doing out-call sessions, with specific days dedicated to in-office OR out-call.

*Note: Cold plunges & saunas are run by the gym and may come with an additional fee.
