I began my manual therapy practice 15 years ago. I was inspired to try to learn as much as I could about the body to help members of my family who suffered from debilitating physical dysfunction. They weren’t improving with the treatments they were receiving from medical practitioners in their area, and I wanted to learn why it wasn’t helping and how I could help people like them.

After receiving my massage therapy license I began studying at the Ursa Foundation under Dr. Loren “Bear” Rex. He taught manual therapy treatments based on the osteopathic model of health. After he retired I have continued my studies with Lino Cedros, ATC of Kinections Educational Institute, and Dennis Eaton, PT and Neal O’Neal, PT of ANS Balance HRV and Pursuit PT. They are long-time faculty and students of Bear’s. I use the techniques they teach within my massage therapy scope. I close my practice several times each year to attend these trainings.

I base all of my soft tissue treatments on the osteopathic model because it helps me understand better the intricacies of the different systems of the body, and how they interact with each other. I am always trying to employ all my knowledge and skills to help each of my patients as they are appropriate. As a result, my patients make faster, more thorough recoveries than is typically seen when treatments are administered without the guidance of the osteopathic model. Unfortunately, there are very few people in manual therapy who treat the way I do, and my practice is full. I no longer need to worry that my schedule will be filled each day.

I do all I can to help other manual therapists set up their own practices and give better care to their patients by hosting osteopathic manual therapy classes here in the Salt Lake Area. I help bring my mentors here so other therapists can learn from them directly and not be limited by what I don’t yet understand.
