Peppermint, Tulsi and Nettle what a power house of spring time herbs! These herbs are so powerful at helping our body to detox the natural buildup of wintertime. In Chinese Medicine we learn to prevent seasonal conditions by getting out ahead of them the season beforehand. This year get out ahead of spring time allergies with these naturally balancing and antihistamine herbs. Feel free to play with the ration's! I personally run a little too dry for Nettle, so I tend to get a headache if I take too much. Other people find it to be perfect for balancing out spring time nasal congestion. Give it a try and tell me what you think!

I always get my herbs from Mountain Rose Herbs because they are local and have the best business practices. I love them and their herbs too!

I am thinking about creating an introduction to herbs course. Please let me know if you would be interested! ~ Heather Wisely

Twists are so important for the health of our spine! So many of our sports and activities have us twisting in one direction more than the other. Take the time to even out your spine and twist the other way just as often! Not only are twists great for mobility, they are also great for lung capacity. Breathing deeply into twists helps to create a habit of breathing deeply when we feel stressed or tired. Give it a try in each direction. Did it feel the same both ways? Or was one way easier or more restricted? Tell me about it in the comments! Keep in mind that if a standing twist is difficult, you can always do the same thing sitting in a chair.

Your mother smells of elderberries! Wow, what an insult! I had no idea what this saying meant until I cooked my first batch of elderberry syrup. Elderberries are full of antioxidants as well as vitamins. These are stinky and sour berries. That's okay though, because with the added spices in this recipe, you will have a kitchen smelling of wonderful herbs and a delicious tasting syrup. We love to take 1-2 TBS daily to prevent colds, flus, and allergy symptoms. Have you made your own elderberry syrup? How did it turn out?

I get all of my herbs from Mountain Rose Herbs because they have simply the best quality.

I am considering creating an introduction to herbs course. If you are interested please let me know! ~ Heather Wisely

Lunges don't have to be dramatic to be effective. Sometimes, backing off a little in a pose and really focusing on alignment can have tremendous benefits. Check out this gentle standing lunge. Try it out, and really focus on taking your time to lengthen and align within the post. Once you are done, tell me how it feels.

If you are interested in longer classes, we have a library of therapeutic yoga classes online. Check out the link in the bio. If you have any questions, please ask me! Stephen Wisely

This is one of my favorite teas to sip on when I have a lot of talking to do. I recommend this tea for anyone who struggles with a chronic dry or sore throat. The balance of sweet, spicy, sour, and bitter has a wonder balancing effect on the respiratory system. Of course you can customize the quantities of each ingredient to suit your personal tastes. Give this a try and let me know what you think in the comments!

I get all of my herbs from Mountain Rose Herbs because I love their selection and quality!

I remember going to my first yoga class and getting into downward dog for the first time. I thought my whole body would split apart. I did not have very flexible hamstrings at the time. I wish I would have known about this modification. It makes approaching downward dog so much easier. You get all of the benefits with none of the stress on your wrists, shoulders, back, or hamstrings. This truly makes downward dog a restorative pose. Try this modification if someone has a , , weakness or , , or cannot do inversions for any other reason.

If you want to learn more, we have a full library of classes online.

Let me know if this modification works for you! I will be releasing more videos over the upcoming weeks! ~ Stephen Wisley

It began with a simply complex idea

Help as many people as possible. That was the mission statement Heather and Stephen Wisely started with.

Neighborhood Yoga took seed in Draper Utah in 2011. The Wisely’s set out to combine traditional treatments of Chinese Medicine, Yoga and Massage under one roof, Neighborhood Acupuncture and Healing Arts.

They used Yoga to aid with recovery and empower people to take charge of their long-term health. Word of their wellness center grew and with it demand to expand the Yoga program. Yoga continues to blossom, and a second studio was added in 2015 to keep up with public demand while maintaining Private Lessons and Yoga Teacher training.
