it’s always a honor when a patient chooses you for a reconstruction, and it’s something we don’t take lightly.

We are doing everything we can to make sure she heals beautifully and quickly, and that includes using a Prevena. This is negative pressure wound therapy and it needs to stay for 2 weeks while she’s healing.

It’s portable and lightweight. & studies show up to a 47% reduction in breast reconstruction complications and improved wound healing. That’s a huge deal!

We asked Melinda if she had any photos of Dr. Petersen in the 90s… and she said, “I know exactly what to send you.”

We were expecting young doctor photos, maybe residency pictures, maybe some throwbacks.

Instead, she sent photos of him asleep with each of his babies while in scrubs 😭🫠

Behind every surgeon is a whole life most people never see. The long training years, the early mornings, the family moments squeezed in between building a career.

Dr. Petersen is a family man, a loving husband, and a highly skilled plastic surgeon. No one builds something meaningful alone, and his family has been there through every chapter.

Sometimes the best throwback photos tell you more than a headshot ever could.
