American Medical Systems

American Medical Systems Medical Billing and Coding Specialist Medical Billing is the process of submitting and following up on claims with insurance companies by healthcare providers.

This is done so that healthcare providers may receive payment for the services they provided. This whole process can take several days or up to several months to fully complete. When a patient goes to a healthcare provider, whatever tests or procedures are done, will be documented by the physician and then the medical coder determines the diagnosis codes and it is the medical biller job to transmit these codes to the health insurance company for payment of the services. If a claim is rejected the medical biller must review it and resubmit the claim or the healthcare provider can accept an incomplete reimbursement. Negotiations can then occur between the healthcare provider and the insurance company until the bill is paid in in full. The medical biller is responsible for handling any and all funds from the insurance company and/or the patient. If a patient does not pay a bill, the medical bills is responsible for getting in touch with the patient to help with arrangements to make sure the debt is paid.
