For many of my clients, neurofeedback teaches them how to find a state of mind that they have never been in before.
Imagine being an inattentive child in a class room where a teacher is teaching your least interesting subject. IF she notices you are not paying attention she might do or say something to remind you to focus. She might even be able remind you a few times per hour, but because of the number of students in the room the attention she can give you will be limited. Neurofeedback on the other hand, gives you it's undivided attention and can remind you multiple times per minute. Through visual and audio cues, it guides you into a state of relaxed focus that many of us have never experienced before, thereby training our brains to do something entirely new, until it becomes a learned skill.
And this doesn't just apply to focus/ADHD. It helps guide the brain to a relaxed state and away from negative thoughts, anxiety causing over-arousal, and a wide range of brain related disorders.
