Why do we say "Sshhhh" when someone is crying? Why do we rub their backs and say "hush now...it's all gonna be ok."

I was wrestling with some big emotions this morning...

They had me frozen -- in a state of disassociation- locked up and feeling all kinds of shame and guilt and fear.

I was realizing that I was making judgements on my feelings.
I felt I needed to continue resting after such a busy intense 5 days but I was judging myself HARSHLY for still needing time to recoup.

You see, I'd put a deadline on my rest. By Thursday I'd be back at it but this morning came and Jen was still tired. Still needing permission to take time and space on myself.

But NO! I'd had a few days, it was time to get over it and just push thru!!!
The fact that I needed more rest created such shame and self- abandonment. I CREATED the tug of war I was in because of the stories I had around rest and work. The "supposed to be's" and the "shouldas".
And in looking deeper I found I was also deeply afraid.
Fear.
of success OR failure
"Stuck in between". My body hadn't recovered yet because if it thawed out, I'd be welcome to create or block what is coming next for me after having such an amazing weekend of learning and growth.

I've been mentally running from success or failure. exhausting! and my body FELT it.

Fear. Stories. Creating. Blocking.

A good friend & coach asked me to close my eyes and ask God...
"Help me see this differently."
So I did.
And as I let the tears come I could see him leaning over me, it was Jesus, robe, sandals and all, leaning over me saying...Hush...shhhh.. I've got you. Hush now.... "
I found instant relief. Foggy brain gone...energy and inspiration to get UP out of my bed where minutes ago I felt was the only safe space- and come down to my office and work. and Be. and Do. to write, and answer messages and accept a new client.

So what IS it about the Hushing and Shushing we do when someone we love is crying?

Today I saw it as quieting their minds from the STORIES they creating and listening to in their minds.
SHhhh....resting is not wrong OR right - it just is.
Huuussshhh...there is no failure here- I'll be with you on any road, loving you, supporting you and seeing your heart.
Shhhhhh...quiet your mind. Feelings are to be felt, not to be judged or repressed. It's ok to feel - you don't have to put a story to every situation.

What stories do you create around your day to day choices?
Do they help you run from and abandon yourself? Do they shame you into white knuckling your way thru something? Do you hide the truth under these stories?
Or can you just husshhhhhhh.... stop the mental gymnastics and BE you. a tired you. a scared you. a hurt you.

What if the only story you ever believed is that you are loved JUST AS YOU ARE in every moment of your life?

Game changer for me folks.
All my Christian upbringing never brought this most baseline connection home for me. I am ok being a human Being in this most human experience. Life.
Fear. Shame. Hurt. Fatigue. Confusion. Regret. Loneliness. Frustration.
Whatever it happens to be at any given moment.
IT JUST IS.
No shouldas or shaming. No stories about what oughta be or what could be.

The ONLY story I can truly believe is that This is me. Doing my best. Loved. Valued. Cherished.

It can be your story if you so choose as well.

⁉️🤷‍♀️⁉️
Have you found yourself oscillating between your biblical understanding of faith for creating (ie "moving mountains", healing, accomplishing a goal or overcoming an obstacle)
and all this talk of the "Law of Attraction"?
Are you confused about how the Law of Attraction fits (or doesn't fit) with a biblical world view?
I am ALWAYS comparing the new with the old. And I've been so confused and troubled at times that my head spins!
But I take these topics seriously, because my faith is precious to me.
As I learn more about anxiety, trauma, our mind, our bodies, intention, quantum theory and quantum entanglement - I see similarities AND differences which are important to define.
I want to share these thoughts in a group setting (Zoom) where questions can be raised and I can present what I've come to understand.
I'll be hosting a mini-class this Thursday night April 25th at 7pm EST.
