Real Talk Episode 4: “What The FAFSA?!”
The FAFSA changes are HERE, and they’re about to shift the entire landscape for students pursuing Social Work, OT, Speech Pathology/Therapy, Audiology, Nursing/NPs, PA, and PT degrees.
Starting July 1, 2026, these programs will be classified as “non‑professional degrees,” meaning thousands of students, especially first‑gen, low‑income, and BIPOC students, may receive less federal financial aid than ever before.
But don’t panic. Let’s prepare. Let’s pivot. And let’s make sure our communities get the information they deserve.
In this episode, we break down:
🔥 What the reclassification actually means
🔥 How it affects grad students (current + future)
🔥 Funding options beyond FAFSA
🔥 Ethical ways to explore private loans
🔥 Scholarships, stipends, & grants to look for
🔥 Why mentorship matters more than ever — especially for Black, Brown, and underrepresented students in the healing professions
Your dreams are still valid, still possible, and still worth fighting for.
Tap in, share with a future clinician, and let’s get into the real.
