Update: We have such an awesome community of people who have reached out to help. Thank you all so much! I am so grateful for all of you.

I have not yet given up the dream of opening the clinic. Unfortunately, after spending a lot of time and money on fixing the foundation and remodeling the inside, my foundation repairs failed and the house sank causing massive cracks in the drywall that I had just had replaced and painted. We found someone new who I fully trust will be able to repair the foundation but I need to fix the water runoff issues first. We just had all new 6 inch gutters installed and unfortunately the rainwater runs right over the top of most of them, and they also hold water in several spots. To top it off, I have major water runoff issues from the grocery store parking lot down into the alley that the city should hopefully be helping me fix soon. So, I am looking for two things. One, someone who could help me troubleshoot and fix the gutter issues.
And, two, someone who could take a look at the rainwater run off from the grocery store parking lot and alley. I have gotten bids on extending a concrete curb and putting in gullies. Both are upwards of $10-$15k so I am looking for something more financially feasible for now, even if a temporary fix for a year or two. Please reach out, or give me some referrals, if you or someone you know has skills and a conscience. Thank you all for the support.

Clinic update: Things are coming together! I get asked all the time when I am opening, and the answer is - I don’t know. 🫠 This has definitely taken longer than initially planned, for several reasons, but I am so happy with the progress. I currently have a very talented, hard-working woman, Brenda Mosier Lee, cleaning, sanding, caulking, and painting every surface interior and exterior. My days at my current clinic in OP are dwindling as I train my replacement. And my evenings are either filled with trips to the hardware store or cleaning/odd jobs at my clinic. Sweet Wyatt got to ride home in a special “fort” this evening as we made yet another supply run. 😂 Please know, we are getting there. I know this community needs medical care close to home…and I promise it’s coming.

Just want to give an update on the clinic progress as many have asked. We are in a complete holding pattern, at the mercy of Evergy. Electricians have run new wiring throughout the house, but Evergy now needs to switch the service over and we have been waiting, and waiting, and waiting. We call 2 to 3 times a week with no update of when they may be able to send someone out. HVAC cannot be finished until the electric is switched over and nothing else interior can happen until we have heat. So, we wait. Very impatiently...

Sold! We are so thankful to have completed the purchase of the future clinic! Drexel residents will recognize this house as the late Les Dunnington's. He was a great man and citizen who had many professions and hobbies, one of his most notable being the town barber. His old shop now sits on Main Street behind the gazebo. Many thanks to Les' family member, Dr. Kenneth Derrington, for kindly and enthusiastically agreeing to sell. And also, Bill Gray with Hawthorn Bank for reaching out with small business startup support.
My heart is so full from all the encouragement I have received from so many of you! This Thanksgiving, I am especially grateful to call this wonderful place my hometown.
