Medication Pick-Up Reminder – Drummond Island Medical Center

We’re continuing to work on ideas to improve traffic flow during prescription pick-up times. In the meantime, here’s a quick reminder that can help make the process smoother for everyone.

Prescription pick-up hours are:

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday: 4:00–5:00 PM

Thursday: 3:00–5:00 PM

Although pick-up begins right at those times, the staff starting each shift are using the first few minutes to organize, alphabetize, and get everything ready. They are driving all the way from the ferry before arriving to distribute the medications to islanders.

If you’re able, arriving a few minutes later, such as around 4:10–4:15, gives them a helpful head start and can reduce the lineup for everyone.

If you arrive and see the driveway is full, please avoid lining up on the road or shoulder. Consider running a quick errand and coming back in a few minutes when the line has moved.

Thank you for helping keep things safe and running smoothly for staff and patients alike.

January and the start of a new year are a good reminder that healthcare is not just about addressing problems when something feels wrong.

An annual checkup or physical is a chance to partner with your care provider to establish baseline information, talk through health goals, monitor how things are going, and check in again over time. Preventive care helps you stay informed and involved in your own health, rather than waiting until something tips.

At Drummond Island Medical Center, part of MyMichigan Health, we are fortunate to have two dedicated family nurse practitioners serving our community: Carol Richwine and Amber Goetz. Both are accepting new patients.

When you call to schedule an appointment, please know that each provider has her own schedule. If you would like to see a specific provider, let the office staff know and they will do their best to accommodate your preference.

Many services are available right here on the island, including routine visits, blood work, flu shots, and follow-up testing when needed. The team is happy to help you understand what services are available at the clinic and what next steps may be helpful.

New patients are always welcome. This is a good time to get established, ask questions, and take an active role in your health as the year begins.

A quick note about pharmacy pickup at the Drummond Island Medical Center.
We’re glad to offer vehicle pickup under the covered area so patients can stay in their cars, especially during winter weather.

⚠️Recently, we’ve had situations where vehicles have lined up beyond the drive area, including on Townline Road or along the shoulder. When cars are stopped or waiting in these areas, it can create a safety concern on icy days and during the busier summer months when drivers may not expect vehicles to be stopped there.

🚘If you arrive and see that the line would require waiting on the road or shoulder, please avoid lining up there. If possible, consider running another errand and coming back a bit later during pickup hours, or waiting until the line has cleared enough to safely pull in off the road.

⏱️Pharmacy pickup hours are:
Monday 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM
Tuesday 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM
Wednesday 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM
Thursday 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM
Friday 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM

📞All medication delivery questions should be asked at Arfstrom Pharmacy in Cedarville: 906-484-3355

Thank you for helping keep patients, staff, and everyone traveling through the area safe. We appreciate the care this community shows for one another.

Please share so that this message is received by everyone, for everyone's safety.
