Perry County Counseling Center's mission is to assist the people we serve to recover from illness, addiction, homelessness, or other significant life events, so that they may continue on the journey toward the life they want for themselves. Perry County Counseling Center is an outpatient mental health agency that provides crisis services, substance abuse counseling, individual counseling for adole

scents and adults, family counseling, marriage counseling, community support/case management, IPS (Employment service), group counseling, DUI classes, DUI evaluations & residential treatment. Our community support staff assists clients with learning independent living skills and with accessing community resources such as: food pantries, grocery store, doctor appointments, social security, DHS, etc.

Engagement Specialist/Recovery Support Specialist (peer support) PRN.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
• As part of the Mobile Crisis Response Team (MCRT), the Engagement Specialist will respond to requests for crisis intervention services with a team member. Service locations may include: Perry County Counseling Center, Perry County Jail, Perry County hospitals, and schools. Crisis intervention services may also occur at other locations within Perry County, including private homes when deemed safe.
• Communicate effectively within a team environment to meet the needs of those experiencing behavioral health crises.
• Communicate as a peer support specialist by sharing their own lived experience, and assist individuals in becoming involved in their own mental health and substance abuse recovery process so they might develop personalized action plans for their own mental, emotional, physical, and social health.
• Use unique insights gained through personal recovery experience to support individuals experiencing a crisis.
• Provide referrals and coordination of referrals to appropriate services.
• Conduct outreach and community engagement within our service area to ensure community awareness of local services and resources.
Qualifications
• This position requires an individual with lived experience and the ability to share that lived experience.
• The candidate must have the ability to obtain the Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS) credential within one year of hire. The CRSS is a peer support credential for those who provide mental health or co-occurring mental illness and substance use recovery support to others as peer support.
• Skilled in de-escalating behaviors of those experiencing a behavioral health crisis.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Successful candidates must pass a background check and drug screen. EOE.

We are hiring PRN Crisis Counselors!

These positions allow flexible scheduling for individuals who want to work only a certain number of hours a week or specific days or shifts. Perry County Counseling Center provides Crisis intervention services around the clock, 365 days a year.
These positions require the individual to possess a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field of counseling, psychology, or social work.
The crisis counselor is responsible for providing crisis intervention services in Perry County as part of our Mobile Crisis Response team. The crisis counselor will routinely assess and determine the risk associated with each contact provide clinically proper interventions to help the individual resolve the crisis in the least restrictive manner possible. Services provided include telephonic, telehealth (online video), and face-to-face clinical screenings and risk assessments, development of a crisis management plan, and appropriate service linkage.
The crisis counselor is paid a stipend for each on-call shift worked. In addition to the stipend, the crisis counselor will receive hourly compensation for time spent providing crisis intervention services.
Hiring is contingent on background checks and drug screening. EOE

Perry County Counseling Center has a full-time support staff position available. Successful candidate should be reliable, professional, and able to multi-task and work without constant supervision. Applicant must have very good computer and interpersonal skills. Regular working hours are Monday and Wednesday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Tues and Thursday 9:30 am to 6:30 pm and Friday 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. Pay range is $15.73-$17.69 hourly depending on experience. Numerous paid holidays and PTO and sick/personal time. Successful candidate must be able to pass a drug test and background check.
