For our we care Thursday, we wanted to give a big shout out to Kathy Laird, Nurse Practitioner by letting her enjoy a pizza from Martell’s. Dr. Davidson joined her also. The residents made cards for her to help celebrate Nurse Practitioner Week. Thank you, Kathy for all you do for Fairview.

We are excited to congratulate CHRISTA JONES, an LPN at Marshall Browning Hospital, who was nominated and received The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. The award is part of the DAISY Foundation’s programs to recognize the super-human efforts nurses perform every day.

Christa received her nomination from a patient’s family member who said, “My father was admitted in the hospital on August 5, 2025. He received outstanding, compassionate care from the entire staff during his stay, but one person truly stood out. Christa Jones went above and beyond to make sure of his care and comfort during his stay. She was a comfort to me as well during an emotional ordeal that was very challenging in many ways. She was brilliant, brave, kind, cool under pressure, and always professional without exception. It was always a relief to me to see her come in as I knew she would be there if we needed her. Just to reaffirm, the entire nursing staff and the ER staff were all amazing and professional, as well as the Hospitalist, Kendra Fischer. However, Christa truly displayed qualities to be proud of at Marshall Browning that went beyond the norm a patient would expect. Thank you, Christa Jones, for all you did to help my Dad. We will not forget it.”

Marshall Browning Hospital hosted its annual employee appreciation party on November 8th at the Du Quoin American Legion, featuring a “Walk the Red Carpet” theme. Employees, retirees, board members, and their guests enjoyed appetizers, dinner, exciting prizes, employee service awards, and entertainment. Contest highlights included raffle baskets (Wine Basket, Pet Basket, As Seen on TV Basket, Lottery Ticket Basket, Spa Basket, and Coffee/Tea Basket), a 50/50 drawing, and cash prizes totaling $2,500. The evening concluded with dancing to music by J-Soul. Special thanks to our employee planning committee for organizing a fantastic event. We hope you enjoy a few of our photos.

We are excited to share that Marshall Browning Hospital has been awarded the Best Overall and Most Improved Annual Wellness Visits (AWVs) by the Illinois Rural Community Care Organization (IRCCO). The award was in recognition of our Care Coordination team’s outstanding performance and commitment to high-quality, value-based care in 2024. This prestigious award reflects our team’s dedication to improving patient outcomes, enhancing care coordination, and reducing healthcare costs for Medicare beneficiaries. A special presentation took place at Marshall Browning Hospital, where IRCCO Executive Director Todd Searls and IRCCO Process Improvement Coach Angie Jochem presented the awards to our team including Dan Eaves, CEO; Brooke Feltmeyer, Clinics Manager; Jennifer Dagner, ACO Care Coordinator; and Julie Watson, AWV Nurse.

We enjoyed a beautiful afternoon today as we launched our 29th Annual Tree of Life Campaign. We are deeply grateful for the community support we have received over the years. Each year, donations to the Tree of Life are designated to maintain or enhance the health services we provide to our patients. This year, donations will help the hospital purchase a Sara Plus Lift with Walk Assist for Med-Surg, 50-inch Smart TVs for patient rooms on Med-Surg, a Vitals Machine for Urgent Care, and a Sara Steady Lift Assist for the Rehab Department. Every $25 donation will light a bulb on the tree. You are welcome to make a donation in memory of or in honor of a loved one if you wish. A list of donations will be published in the Du Quoin Weekly newspaper. Please consider donating this year to help us reach our goal of $20,000. All donations are tax-deductible.
