? ♻️Residents across our communities are following their good through sustainable actions everyday.

For Bob K., moving to White Sands La Jolla with his wife Marilyn opened new opportunities for him to pursue his passion for the environment. Bob is an active member of the Green Committee, an initiative that focuses on sustainability and eco-friendly practices within the community. “Being environmentally conscious is a way of life for me,” Bob says. “I love being involved in many of the Green Committee’s projects that contribute to a healthier planet for future generations.” Through the committee, Bob initiated a program in which residents can donate gently used clothing to local homeless shelters.

? 🍎Not only do HumanGood communities have strong composting and recycling programs, but by the end of the year, seven HumanGood communities will be using a tablet-based food waste tracking system — giving teams real-time insights to measure waste, understand its carbon impact and create smarter, long-term solutions.

? 🚮 HumanGood residents and team members kicked 2026 off with a pledge to reduce single-use plastics. 1,147 residents and team members committed to reusing a water bottle and/or food container, 801 committed to using reusable bags and 633 committed to saying “no” to plastic utensils.

? ☀️We have successfully installed solar panels or solar hot water systems in 41 HumanGood communities so far, including Affordable Housing and Life Plan Communities. Using solar energy significantly reduces our carbon footprint by generating power without producing harmful atmospheric gases.

Earth Day is approaching! Keeping sustainability top of mind is just another way we follow our good.

? 🌱 HumanGood launched the Environmental Sustainability Action Committee (ESAC) in 2022 to boost sustainability across our life plan communities — from improving recycling and composting to empowering everyday eco-friendly actions. Looking ahead, ESAC aims to create a shared platform for best practices, helping communities learn, innovate and grow greener together.
