Our center is located inside the Michael Amini Transfusion Medicine Center, where we are able to collect, analyze and process blood products. Patients at City of Hope – most of whom are fighting cancer – rely on more than 37,000 units of blood and platelets each year for their survival. And every one of those units comes from people like you – family, friends and other caring individuals who want to make a difference. Because there is no substitute for human blood, your donation is a lifeline to the men, women and children in our care.

🎉 A Huge Thank You to Trudy Trimmer! 🎉
We are beyond grateful to celebrate Trudy Trimmer, who recently surpassed 150 platelet donations! Her generosity and commitment to helping others is truly inspiring.

Trudy dedicated 27 years of her career to City of Hope, working in the Department of Diabetes alongside the late, great Dr. Arthur Riggs, a scientific pioneer whose groundbreaking work helped revolutionize diabetes treatment.

Thanks to the work of Dr. Riggs and teams like the one Trudy was a part of, City of Hope became a leader in diabetes research and care, helping not only to treat but to transform the lives of patients living with diabetes.

Today we’re celebrating a major milestone: Skip has just completed his 40th platelet donation!
Skip isn’t just a regular donor, he’s the kind of guy who shows up ready to give everything he can in one sitting, often donating a double to help patients who need it most. His commitment to saving lives through platelet donation is inspiring, unwavering, and deeply appreciated.

Skip’s impact doesn’t stop at his own generous donations. He also believes in bringing others into the fold and that’s exactly what he did today. Skip introduced his friend Lynne to the donation process here in the U.S. This was Lynne’s first platelet donation in the United States, although she had previously donated in the UK. She took an important step to help patients today, adding another chapter to her own donor journey.

Skip’s dedication reminds us that donation isn’t just about giving blood or platelets, it’s about giving hope. And when you bring someone else into that mission, you double the impact!
