Pulmonary Hypertension Day is acknowledged on May 5th annually. Pulmonary hypertension is a serious condition characterized by high blood pressure in the blood vessels that supply the lungs. This condition can lead to damage to the right side of the heart as the walls of the pulmonary arteries become thick and stiff, making it difficult for blood to flow through. Common symptoms include shortness of breath, fatigue, and chest pain. The causes of PH can vary, including narrowing or damage to the pulmonary arteries due to conditions like hypoxia (insufficient oxygen supply) or thrombosis (formation of a blood clot inside a blood vessel). To diagnosis you typically get imaging tests and assessments of heart function. Treatment options may include medications, lifestyle changes, and in severe cases, surgery. This condition affects the lungs and heart. Our team of lung experts are able to diagnosis this disease and help patients in receiving the proper care to feel better and improve their overall quality of life. 🫁💙
