🥗 Nourishing Lives, One Meal at a Time
Omatochi x Mom's Meals: Partners in Senior Wellness
As we age, food becomes more than just fuel—it becomes medicine, comfort, and independence.
At Omatochi In-Home Care, we know that a healthy, balanced diet is essential to aging with dignity, especially for seniors managing chronic conditions. That’s why we’re proud to partner with Mom's Meals at every Senior Wellness Fair we host.
💛 From delivering medically tailored meals to seniors’ doors, to helping them manage diabetes, heart conditions, or recovery after hospitalization—Mom’s Meals is a true lifeline for those who need more than just calories—they need care.
We’re especially grateful for Bunkers, who joins us at every fair to speak, share, and lead important discussions as part of our CalAIM panels. Her voice, and the mission of Mom's Meals, helps ensure our seniors understand how to nourish their bodies and their health.
At Omatochi, we don’t just coordinate care—we create community. Through every event, every visit, and every conversation, we work to uplift seniors and the families who love them. Nutrition is just one part of that journey, and we’re proud to lead with heart.
Together, we’re doing more than serving meals—we’re building a support system where nutrition, education, and compassion go hand in hand.
🥄 Because a hot meal can mean:
✅ Lower hospital visits
✅ Improved energy and recovery
✅ Better quality of life
✅ And peace of mind for caregivers

Help Us Protect Seniors Against $4.8 Billion in FRAUD.
YES, you heard it right! $4.8 Billion. According to the FBI, that’s how much seniors lost to financial fraud in 2024. That’s not right!
These aren’t just numbers, they’re stories of lost savings, broken trust, and emotional stress.
At Omatochi, we believe this must stop.
That’s why we host Senior Wellness Fairs that include fraud education and prevention as a core part of our mission.
💬 With the help of Alex Cadenas from the Department of Financial Protection and Innovation (DFPI), Lara Brecher from BALANCE and Claudia Guevara from Comerica Bank, we brought real-world fraud prevention strategies directly to seniors in our community.
👵👴 Seniors got the chance to ask questions, share their concerns, and leave feeling more confident and informed about how to protect themselves.
We left knowing we did what we’re here to do:
Empower our seniors with knowledge, safety, and dignity!

🌍💚 Roots of Wisdom: Celebrating Earth Day with Our Elders 💚🌍
At Omatochi, we believe that caring for our elders and caring for our planet go hand in hand. Just like the Earth, our seniors hold deep roots, rich history, and timeless wisdom that guide us toward a better future.

This Earth Day, we honor the generations who came before us — the ones who practiced sustainability long before it became a movement. From hanging laundry under the sun to reusing and repairing instead of replacing, their everyday choices were acts of care for the planet.

Let’s take a moment to reflect, connect, and grow — together 🌱 Whether it’s through storytelling, gardening, or simply sharing time, we’re reminded that nurturing our environment and our elders is a beautiful, essential act of love.

Honoring Black History Month: A Legacy of Care and Compassion

Black History Month is a time to celebrate the remarkable contributions of Black pioneers who have transformed lives through their dedication and innovation. One such trailblazer is Dr. Charles R. Drew, a visionary in medicine whose work revolutionized modern healthcare and continues to impact lives today.

Often called the "father of blood banking," Dr. Drew developed groundbreaking methods for blood storage and plasma preservation, saving countless lives during World War II. His work laid the foundation for the blood donation systems we rely on today. But beyond his scientific achievements, his legacy speaks to something even deeper—the fight for equitable healthcare access.

Today, we see the echoes of Dr. Drew’s mission in the ongoing challenges faced by Black seniors in healthcare. From disparities in medical access to the underrepresentation of Black voices in medicine, the need for advocacy and equitable care remains as urgent as ever. At Omatochi, we believe that quality healthcare and compassionate senior care should not be a privilege, but a right—one that honors the resilience and contributions of our elders.

As we celebrate Black History Month, let’s remember that true progress means ensuring that every generation, including our seniors, receives the dignity, respect, and care they deserve. Dr. Drew’s work was not just about saving lives—it was about creating a system of care that serves everyone. Let’s continue that mission together.

Honoring Black History Month: The Legacy of Care and Innovation

Black History Month is a time to reflect on the resilience, brilliance, and contributions of Black leaders who have shaped our world. When we think about senior care, it’s more than just caregiving—it’s about honoring legacies, preserving wisdom, and ensuring dignity in aging.

One powerful example is Dr. Rebecca Lee Crumpler, the first Black woman in the U.S. to earn a medical degree in 1864. At a time when both women and African Americans faced immense barriers in medicine, she dedicated her life to providing healthcare to underserved communities, especially formerly enslaved individuals after the Civil War. Her work laid the foundation for equitable healthcare, a mission that continues today in senior care, where Black elders often face disparities in access and quality of care.

Her story reminds us that caregiving is not just an act of service—it’s an act of justice. This month, let’s celebrate and support the Black pioneers in healthcare, past and present, who have fought for a more inclusive and compassionate world.

At Omatochi, we believe in carrying this legacy forward by ensuring that every senior, regardless of background, receives the respect, care, and support they deserve. Because caring for our elders means preserving history—and shaping the future.

Wildfires and Senior Care: Protecting Our Most Vulnerable During Emergencies
As wildfires like the recent ones in Los Angeles demonstrate, natural disasters can escalate quickly, leaving little time to prepare. Seniors are especially vulnerable during wildfires due to mobility challenges, respiratory health risks, and the need for medications or medical equipment. Proactive measures can save lives and ensure the safety of our aging loved ones. At Omatochi, we care deeply about the safety and well-being of seniors and are committed to ensuring they receive the care they need, especially during emergencies.
Why Seniors Are at Greater Risk
🔹 Mobility Issues: Evacuations may be more challenging.
🔹 Health Concerns: Poor air quality can exacerbate respiratory issues or chronic illnesses.
🔹 Dependence on Medications: Disrupted routines may impact their health.
Wildfire Preparedness for Seniors
1️⃣ Emergency Kits: Pack medications, medical devices, water, non-perishable food, ID, and extra batteries.
2️⃣ Evacuation Plan: Map routes, arrange transport, share contacts, and coordinate with neighbors or caregivers.
3️⃣ Stay Informed: Sign up for alerts and monitor evacuation orders and air quality.
4️⃣ Air Quality Protection: Use N95 masks and air purifiers or relocate to safer indoor spaces if needed.
Caregiver Tips
🔸 Check in regularly with seniors, especially those living alone.
🔸 Assist in organizing and packing essentials.
🔸 Provide a calm and supportive environment to reduce stress.
