Aging Well Expo: Monterey Moments at Scholze Park Center

The Aging Well Expo in Monterey brought together seniors, caregivers, and community partners for a warm, engaging day at Scholze Park Center. We opened with welcomes from Deka D**e (Omatochi) and Adriana Greene (Urban League), followed by a calming Tai Chi session with Joanna Garden.

A special highlight was our CalAIM Provider Panel, where Enoc Bermudez and Vilma Carranza (Omatochi), Jody Rogers (Alliance on Aging), and Maria Carr (MedZed) shared how ECM and Community Supports help seniors access food, healthcare, and wraparound services.

In our Financial Planning & Fraud Protection session, Alex Cadenas (CDFPI) offered practical tips to protect seniors from scams.

We closed with raffle prizes, lunch (thank you, MedZed!), and beautiful intergenerational moments.

Full Circle Moment: From Student to Founder to Leader
Our Founder & CEO Deka D**e returned to her alma mater, Cal State East Bay, as the Keynote Speaker for the Women in Leadership CSUEB 2025 Program Launch.
Standing where her journey began, Deka shared her story, from being a determined student with big dreams to becoming the Founder & CEO of Omatochi, one of the Bay Area’s most impactful senior care organizations. She spoke candidly about the challenges, resilience, and courage it took to build a mission-driven company that blends compassion with technology to help seniors age with dignity, connection, and joy.
Her session, “Connecting the Dots: From Student to Founder to Leader,” was more than a keynote, it was a heartfelt exchange. Deka connected deeply with students, reminding them that leadership isn’t defined by titles, but by purpose, empathy, and impact.
“You already have everything you need to lead, the courage to begin is the first dot to connect.”
We are deeply grateful to Asha Rao and Rupal Shah Hollenbeck for inviting Omatochi to share our story and for their leadership in nurturing the next generation of women changemakers. We also appreciate President Cathy Sandeen for her continued support and vision in empowering women through this incredible program.
This was a true full-circle moment, one that celebrated growth, gratitude, and the power of representation. Here’s to inspiring more women to dream big, lead boldly, and lift others along the way.
Thank you, California State University - East Bay, for welcoming us home and continuing to empower future leaders.

💛 The Heart of Care: Recognizing Family Caregivers
Welcome caregivers.
Welcome sons and daughters.
Welcome mothers and fathers, wives and husbands, partners, neighbors, and friends.
At Omatochi, we believe care is universal, the thread that connects us all.
Whether you offer companionship, prepare meals, or simply listen, you are a caregiver.
Your care matters.
Your time matters.
And your heart matters most of all.
We see you.
We celebrate you.
Because every act of care deserves recognition and every caregiver deserves rest, respect, and reward.
If you’re caring for a loved one, you may qualify to earn financial support for the care you give.
Through Medi-Cal’s Enhanced Care Management (ECM) and Community Supports (CS), Omatochi helps family caregivers access the guidance, resources, and financial assistance they deserve — so you can keep doing what you do best: caring with heart.
With Omatochi, care always feels connected, valued, and human.

Omatochi Goes Rural: Bringing Care Closer to Home

On National Rural Health Day, we celebrate the heart of our rural and edge-of-city communities — where care isn’t just delivered, it’s shared. 💛

From the farmlands of Merced to the quiet hills of Mariposa, and across the Central Valley, Central Coast, and Greater Sacramento region, Omatochi goes rural to bring compassionate, culturally competent care to seniors where they live.

Our care managers travel the extra miles — literally — to make sure every senior feels connected, supported, and seen. Because care doesn’t stop where the city ends — it begins wherever someone needs a helping hand.

Here’s to the caregivers, families, and providers who keep rural communities thriving. 🌿

Care for Yourself So You Can Care for Others
When you spend your days helping others, it’s easy to forget your own needs.
But a healthy caregiver means better care for everyone.
At Omatochi, we understand the emotional and physical effort that goes into caregiving. That’s why we’re here to support caregivers with tools, connection, and compassion — so you never have to do it alone.
Tips to nurture yourself:
- Take short breaks during the day
- Eat balanced meals
- Ask for help when you need it
- Stay connected with loved ones
Your wellbeing matters too. 💛
