For years, Camara poured her heart into caring for others—until life reminded her that she needed care, too.🩵
Camara’s nursing journey began at a local hospital, where she helped launch school-based health center, and assisted with mobile health unit programs as a charge nurse and health coach for children with chronic conditions. Life changes pulled Camara away from nursing to balance parenting her three children with becoming a full-time caregiver to her mother during her battle with brain cancer.
After navigating seasons of personal loss and exploring different remote work opportunities, Camara has found her home at a Central Ohio Primary Care pediatric practice. What makes COPC different for her isn’t just the patients she serves—it’s the culture of teamwork and support that allows her to thrive both professionally and personally.
“In past roles, I often felt overworked and exhausted. Here, I don’t feel that way. I can go home and still be the mom I want to be, not just a tired nurse at the end of the day,” she shares. At COPC’s Eastglen Pediatrics, she feels supported both as a professional and as a person. “Here, I’m not just seen as a nurse. I’m seen as a mom, a teammate, and an individual,” she shares. The culture of teamwork—where colleagues rally around one another—has restored her work-life balance and allowed her to bring her best self home to her family. She is grateful to be able to be there for her oldest son to move him into college, and being more present at her family’s many sports and church activities in the evenings and weekends.
That support has reignited Camara’s passion for pediatrics. In her role, she provides care for children of all ages, educates parents, and builds trusted relationships that last as kids grow up. “Even on hard days, I want to come back the next morning. Primary care is where my passion is, and this is what I do,” she says.
For Camara, COPC is more than a workplace—it’s a community that values her as a nurse, a teammate, and a person. 💙

Babies have incredible immune systems, ready to learn as soon as they are born. The hepatitis B vaccine is one of the first vaccines your baby will receive, helping their immune system recognize and resist the serious virus that can lead to liver disease later in life.

It’s critical to recognize the importance of vaccination to prevent children from developing liver disease. Hepatitis B is preventable with immunization, helping your child grow up healthy, happy and protected. Talk with your pediatrician if you have questions about the hepatitis B vaccine.

Information for our families in the New Albany area. Measles is highly contagious. We will follow up with guidelines once we learn more. Stay tuned.

Columbus Public Health and Franklin County Public Health are investigating a confirmed case of measles who visited two public places while infectious.

On September 25, the measles case visited:
• The New Albany Early Learning Center at 5101 Swickard Woods Blvd., from *10:30 a.m.-1:45 p.m.
• Target at Hamilton Quarter 6030 N. Hamilton Rd., from *11a.m.-2 p.m.
*(Times include 2 hours after the case left the locations.) Any individual who is not fully vaccinated (with two doses of MMR vaccine) and at the school or store during these times only could have been exposed.

Exposed individuals are encouraged to watch for symptoms and to go to their health care provider if they are sick. Symptoms can appear 7-21 days after exposure. There are currently 3 confirmed measles cases in central Ohio in unvaccinated family members who traveled internationally. Measles is a vaccine-preventable disease that is highly contagious and spreads through the air when an infected person coughs or sneezes. The most important thing anyone can do to prevent measles is to get the measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine, which is safe and highly effective.

Acetaminophen is an over-the-counter medicine used to reduce fevers and relieve pain. It is sold under many brand names, including Tylenol.

Decades of research have found that acetaminophen is safe for children when administered as recommended. Misleading claims link the medicine to autism. These false claims send a confusing, dangerous message to parents and expectant parents and does a disservice to autistic individuals. Read more at the link below.
