Your anxiety might be starting in your gut.

The gut and brain are constantly communicating through what’s called the gut-brain axis.

This means your digestive health can directly influence how you feel mentally.

Imbalances in the gut—like inflammation, poor digestion, or microbiome shifts—can contribute to:

• anxiety
• brain fog
• mood changes

In fact, a large portion of serotonin (a key neurotransmitter for mood) is produced in the gut.

So when your gut isn’t functioning well, it can affect how your brain regulates emotions.

This is why mental health support isn’t just about mindset—it’s about the whole body.

When we start looking at these connections, things begin to make more sense.

In this week’s episode of the Cultivate Calmness Podcast, Kaela reflects on the emotional complexity of Mother’s Day through the lens of grief, loss, and personal experience. Having lost her mother at a young age, she shares what it has been like to grow up, become a parent, and navigate life without that foundational relationship. From missing milestones and unanswered questions to recognizing alternative mother figures and redefining what “mom” means, Kaela explores how grief can show up in both subtle and profound ways. This episode offers validation for anyone who finds Mother’s Day difficult—whether due to loss, complicated relationships, or unmet needs—and reminds listeners that all emotions surrounding this day are valid and worthy of space.

May the 4th be with you 🌌

In Star Wars, “the Force” is all about balance.

And honestly… healing isn’t that different.

It’s not just about your thoughts.
It’s not just about your emotions.
And it’s definitely not just about “pushing through.”

Real healing happens when your mind and your body are working together.

Because when your nervous system feels safe…
when your body is supported…

that’s when things actually start to shift.

So today—may the 4th be with you…
and may you find a little more balance in your healing too.
