Important Measles Update:

Emerald Families,

We are following the current measles outbreak in Ohio. There have been 9 cases reported in Ashtabula County and one in Knox County, all in unvaccinated individuals.

Children over the age of four who have been vaccinated with two vaccines are 97% less likely to contract this highly contagious disease.

Symptoms include rash, high fever, runny nose, cough, loss of appetite and red, watery eyes. White spots can be seen on the inside of the mouth before symptoms develop (Koplik's spots). Measles can lead to secondary infections, commonly pneumonia. It also can cause inflammation and swelling of the brain, encephalitis, which can be fatal.

If your child has any of these symptoms, please inform us so we can see your child in a safe setting, avoiding the waiting room (appointment only).

Our patient population is 100% vaccinated as AAP recommends, and we implement.
We will continue to follow developments and inform you if there are any changes that may affect your family.

Hello Emerald Families:

Due to the impending inclement weather expected for Monday 1/6/25, we’d like to let you know that we may have an office closure or delayed opening.

We will definitely close if there is a Level 3 Snow Emergency in Franklin County. We will likely also close if there is a Level 2 Snow Emergency in Franklin County.

In any case, we will post another update by 7 AM on Monday.
