Heart of Georgia Healthy Start Staff attended the 36th Annual Conference on Breastfeeding at the Emory Conference Center Hotel April 14th-15th. We were excited to learn new skills and education to better serve our Breastfeeding clients.

Our next Postpartum and Breastfeeding Series will begin April 9th at 5pm via Zoom. The Zoom information is on the flyer below. Each participant will receive incentive items(diapers, wipes, perineal healing foam, nursing pads, and more) for participating in the class. Please share!

Heart of Georgia Healthy Start along with Laurens County Family Connection held Community Baby Showers in Laurens and Dodge Counties this month. Our program helped 158 families with resources for their new bundles of Joy. We will be hosting these Baby Showers throughout the year to assist families within the South-Central Health District with needed resources for their babies. If you would like to donate items or volunteer your time to assist us in these efforts, please reach out to our office. Remember, it takes a village.

Today, January 23, 2026 is Maternal Health Awareness Day! The theme is "Holding Ground on Maternal Health" aiming to protect progress in reducing Maternal Mortality and improving care. For almost 30 years, Heart of Georgia Healthy Start has provided Maternal Health Services to communities within the South-Central Health District in Georgia. Our program will continue to provide these much needed services, and hopefully we will see the day when preventable Maternal Mortality and Morbidity has been completely eradicated.
