All week I’ve posted our culinary department. Let me introduce you to Ashley, our Culinary Director.

Moved here from Dayton in 2009.. decided to go back to college at Columbus community college for diet technicians. Graduated in 2021. Started working at the Grand in 2023. My goal has always been to help people, serving one hot meal at a time..

I am one of those people that can really say from the bottom of my heart I LOVE MY JOB!!!

We’re still celebrating National Food Service Week!! Yesterday we celebrated with a hibachi style lunch and the culinary staff was presented a cake with their names on it. We are fortunate to have a great culinary department!!

Another dietary superstar!!!! Please meet Elaine who is from Dublin. She has been with us for a year. In her spare time she likes to listen to k-pop music. Let’s not forget it’s National Food Service Week. Let me introduce Cyrine, our Assistant Dietary Manager.

My name is Cyrine, I’m 34 years old, and I have proudly been part of the dietary team here at The Grand for the past 2 years and 6 months. I truly enjoy serving our residents and being part of their daily lives.

From the beginning, I was determined to grow. I watched the cooks closely, wrote down recipes in my own language, translated them with Google, and practiced them at home. Eventually, I enrolled in English classes, and with the support of my manager, I trained to become a breakfast cook. That manager also encouraged me to earn my very first ServSafe Food Handler Certificate — an achievement that gave me confidence to continue pursuing this career.

After two years of learning and growing, I knew this was my path. I enrolled in a Clinical Culinary Arts program, worked in several healthcare facilities, and eventually found my home here at The Grand. Once again, someone believed in me — Ashley Lett — who gave me the opportunity to step into an assistant managing role.

Today, I am proud to say that I am pursuing my Master’s degree and looking forward to growing even more in this field. My story is a reminder that with perseverance, support, and passion, you can turn challenges into opportunities. 💙
