We have had quite an eventful week here on the grounds of Mount Pleasant Home. We have been spending the week actively celebrating our 150th anniversary. We have had many visitors to the home in the past week or so. Descendants of the family who provided our current location to the organization, the sheep who are currently grazing the back half of the property that was recently sold to Habitat for Humanity, and visits from the Telegraph Herald who has written this beautiful article about the home and the program we have to offer.
On Tuesday evening, we hosted a Dubuque Area Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate our 150th accomplishment, followed by an after hours meet and greet event and hors d'oeuvres hour.
To conclude our events for the week, we would gladly invite you to stop by Mount Pleasant Home, located at 1695 Mount Pleasant Street, for an open invite ice cream social event. The event will take place beginning at 12 noon on Saturday, July 20, to end approximately around 4 pm. We will have entertainment in the form of a 12 piece Americana band from 12-2, and ice cream, light snacks, and refreshments will be provided throughout the day. There will also be a free to enter raffle, with prizes available. Seating will be limited, so we suggest you bring your lawn chairs, blankets, or other seating options to enjoy the music, and events on the lawn.
We hope that you can find the time to stop by for a brief visit, or to spend the day with us here at our home, to learn the history, and help to support the future of our program here.
